The Gumball Rally (2005, DVD)

There have been a number of car movies, few any good. The cannonball Run series were based on major stars, not the cars themselves. Gumball Rally is really focued on cars with a clear picture of their strengths and weaknesses. The two real stars of the film are the Ferrari Daytona and the Shelby 427 Cobra. It really comes down to all out fun on the road. The Daytona is still one of the most beautiful cars ever designed. Fast, high top end and a great heart. The Cobra, raw power definately purpose built. There is one scene towards the end where the two cars pull out on the interstate and take off. This is perhaps the only time you see the raw acceleration of the Cobra compared to the Ferrari. Raul Julia's quote as he pulls off the rear view mirror at the start of the race: In Italian racing, what is behind you is not important". Wonderful.

seen this movie at the cinema love it but over the years more better movies came out and stop putting a shine to this movie but it still look good great picture. overall still look good for the year it was made.

Great Cars, fun movie. Don't take it too seriously , Just enjoy it for what it is. This is a real treat for car buffs everywhere. It is also fun when you look at the gas prices posted at the gas stations in the movie. $0.64 cents per gallon. Yikes I remember those days. Raul Julia is a hoot, and Gary Busey is pretty young. The motorcycle rider is completely nuts. Sit back hang on and enjoy the ride.

I love this movie. I owned it when all you could get it on was VHS and knew I had to have it when it came out on DVD. The sound of the Cobra coming out of the tunnel is worth buying the movie alone.

It was funny back then. Wanted to watch it again to recapture those funny moments. It wasn't as funny 30 years later.... but still a cute movie.

I liked this movie allot. It reminds me of another movie called The Cannon Ball Run made a few years later. I liked all the cars and other vehicles used and I liked the basic theme of the movie. I thought it a good date movie too. A good buy. I decided to buy it after it was suggested by a friend when I told her I liked car movies. This was older then I had in mind but it a good pick none the less.

Great vintage road movie. Lot better than what we see these days... real V8 sound and speed! The stars in this movie are the cars, not Hollywood wannabe! Fun for all ages my two sons (5 and 8 yo) just loved this movie and play it over and over!

great buy for cars lovers and it brings back a lot of 70's memories, the fashion, 2 strokes motorcycles engines,cars, drink and drive, etc...

We searched for this movie for my nephew, who had requested it as a gift. Even on a website for a very well known company, we could only get the movie on VHS and it was back ordered. They wanted $15.00 plus shipping. We found it right away on e-bay for a much lower price (including shipping) and it was brand new, still wrapped and it was also on DVD. The DVD offers more viewing options than VHS and the boys have watched it a million times already. If you like Cannon Ball Run, you will love this movie.
