The prospect of listening to music that does not berate society, call for the destruction of authority, whine about your station in society or is just a vulgarity repeated to a "beat" prompted me to purchase this cd. There are numerous advantages to relaxing, closing your eyes and listening to soft music and a singer that is not in a rage or homicidal. I recommend everyone try it the next time you feel stressed or disgusted with whatever is occuring around you.
I listened to NKC back in the 80's for the first time, along with crooners like Sinatra, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis and other popular stars. This guy is smooth. He started with jazz. Almost every song is written by a different writer, even Charlie Chaplin. If you really want all his stuff, buy the 4-disc box set. Or, you can purchase Unforgetabble Nat King Cole, as I did, and get another dozen of his hits not on this CD. But you will get some repeats as well - which shouldn't be a bother. Keep one in the car! Most of his work is probably early 40's to late 50's. And what variety, though nothing too extreme. It's all his smooth style. There's only a few of his tunes - not here - I didn't prefer. But that's nornal with most stars and songs. Nat King Cole - he's timeless.
I purchased the CD by Nat King Cole with fond memories of my childhood. I remember my mother breezing around the house working on her household chores and listening to Nat's music. When I hear some of the songs, they take me back to a time when life seemed so cheerful and easy. The music is wholesome and the words easy to understand and easy to sing along to.
