Prind -The Golde Experience Is Golden
Review created: 02/22/08

I had this CD on tape years ago when it first came out. I wore the tape out. I then bought the CD and it was stolen. I have been trying to get a new copy for years now. I played loaded on my IPod as soon as it arrived. Absolutely love this CD. My favorite song is P Control with Billy Jack B*tch coming in a close second. If you are a Prince fan this is a must have for your collection. If you are not a true fan, listen and you will be.

I bought this CD because I was looking for P Control to put on my ipod. That is the only song on the CD that I have heard of.

 Inside Prince's Glittering "Gold Experience"
Review created: 02/02/03
by: speeddemon531-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Music

Pros:
Easily Prince's best work of the "glyph" years. Rock, soul, funk...it's all here.

Cons:
The between-song skits area bad idea.

Over the course of Prince s 25 year, 3,000 (or at least it seems) album career, there have been many unheralded or underrated works. The 1995 Gold Experience is one of those works. Recorded and released while Prince was in the throes of a protracted legal dispute with Warner Brothers records, this album finds Prince presiding over his usual meld of rock, pop, soul and hip-hop, along with a clearly stated social conscience. On this album, he touches on everything from female liberation to civil rights to the politics of love and hate. Prince s love affair with hip-hop can be traced as far back.

 The Gold Experience, by Prince
Review created: 12/12/02
by: cdm72 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Excess fat trimmed off in loss of rappers and back-up singers

Cons:
A little over-done in some places

In 1994, after a 2-year break from real record-making Prince was back. And by "Prince", I mean the over-producing, jam-heavy, talkin' 'bout stuff don't nobody understand Prince. It's good to see him cuz we missed the little guy. Despite being credited to this new guy, the symbol, the "artist formerly known as Prince" (did anyone ever NOT call him Prince, really?) THE GOLD EXPERIENCE is a Prince record through and through, too rockin' to be soul, to funky to be rock, but enough of everything to keep you listening. The record opens with the NPG Operator telling us, in Spanish, "Our special...

Pros:
ooh... one of the 90s best pop albums, as far as eye'm concerned

Cons:
NONE

Woke up this morning and I knew I had to tell the world of Epinions about Prince s often overlooked album Gold experience. And why I can t stop listening to it for already it seems like a week. What you need to know about this album is that it was written by one of the best pop artists of all time. One of the two greatest artists, I d say, and if you follow my reviews you know who I think is the other one. Say who ? Forty minutes of pure entertainment, no more, no less, is what Prince delivered under the title of Gold in 1995. It is a concept album (like most of what Prince does), however,...

His Purple Badness Returns to Rock!!!
Review created: 03/25/02
by: lyrikalbj -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
THE ARTIST returns to playing his guitar!!

Cons:
Dolphin??!! what's up with this song!!??

The mid nineties were really a whirl for Prince. He was in the midst of his troubles and disagreements with Warner Brothers which was highlighted by the appearance of his Come album where he announced the retirement of Prince. Then he changed his name to the pronounceable symbol. On came the heckling from Warner Brothers, critics, comedians, and even fans as The Artist Formerly Known As Prince attempted to shed his past and begin anew. In all actuality, my thought was that he made the name change to escape from his contract under Warner Brothers and record music that he would have ownership...

The Miracle Alchemy Of The Gold Experience
Review created: 01/08/01
by: EFCrow -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Outstanding concept with critical acclaim

Cons:
Though it went platinum, it was still overlooked

With all the hype over the name change conflict and o+> claiming institutional slavery to his record contract, The Gold Experience was sadly overlooked by an admittedly plastic society that looks for the next hit instead of the next great artist. I first heard about (the material for) this album in 1993, oddly enough, when his NPG dance crew (headed then by Carmen Electra) performed on the Arsenio Hall show. Arsenio introduced their performance of Endorphinemachine, one of 13 unreleased tracks from Prince's new album (this was right before he changed his name). Some months later, he released..
