I have read Beverly Lewis's "The Parting" and could not wait to read her second installment of the series. "The Forbidden" drew me in even more than the first in this series and now I am anxiously awaiting the next. Her characters are portrayed in a way that you feel that you are in their midst...she is a wonderful writer; one I would recommend to anyone! "The Forbidden" is perhaps the best one of hers that I have read so far...I could not put it down.

I have always loved Beverly Lewis. The Forbidden is a great book, with a clear message of salvation. I love the way the characters open their hearts to trusting in our Lord and Savior! I can't wait for the next book in the series!

A good book about the Amish by Beverly Lewis

I love the way Beverly Lewis, shows us the daily life of an Amish couple.
Caleb Yoder and Nellie Mae Fisher , are a couple , but they must face the differences between them to stay together and in love, will the last?

I decided to buy the book because I have always wanted to see how the Amish were in the works and writings of a former Amish person. Beverly Lewis was once Amish, growing up and from her experience she shows us what its life in that kind of family Setting.
I also love the way it shows how the Amish people are able to survive like people growing up in the 1800's- without electricity, cars, modern day stuff. Imagine going to work in a buggy and a horse that pulls you- you will surely have an excuse to be late.

What I didn't like about the book is that it keeps you wondering what will happen, so we have to buy the next book in October. The third book will be the Longing. In which Nellie longs to be with Caleb. Overall this book was a great Book, and you won't want to put it down.

Also recommended : Karen Kingsbury's books, Tracie Peterson, and more Beverly Lewis books. Enjoy and happy reading all.

  Great Reading
Review created: 04/21/08

I had purchased the first book in this series so had been waiting for the second. I like to read about the Amish lifestyle (even if I wouldn't like to live it) but it is interesting. The story line kept going with the same family and the way they dealt with the death of the sister that drowned. It was so uplifting, healing, with romance mixed in...all in all a excellent book.
