If you are a prog freak or an ELP fan, this is the disc for you. I noticed my cd collection had NO ELP! Now I was more of a Gentle Giant; PFM and Yes fan when I was growing up but I do remember my older brother having Tarkus. This collection has the best of (most) the ELP albums....including Tarkus. It was like old times hearing Greg Lake sing "Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends" and it doesn't have to with this collection. The tracks have been remastered which must have been quite a chore considering these albums were made back in the 70's. You'll get all of Tarkus, most of Brain Salad Surgery and the classics "Still you Turn Me On" and "From the Beginning". For all of you prog fans you have the synth rock versions of Copeland's Hoedown and ELP's version of the Nutcracker called the Nutrocker-insert joke here! I know it's cliche, but if you're going to buy one comprehensive ELP CD, make it this one....you won't be sorry. The only negative I have is that they should have had some of Pictures at an Exhibition....but they probably had to choose between that or the full version of Tarkus...otherwise this could've been 4-6 cd set and cost you your first male born child.
This anthology is an excellent collection if you remember ELP growing up. They sound better than what could be produced in the early 70's. This band is definitely worthy of the improved sound quality. Get this CD if you even thought 'Lucky Man' or 'I believe in Father Christmas' was all they could produce. You won't be disappointed!
