This book was recommended to me by an ex-smoker. It helped me to quit smoking after many other failed attempts. I bought this book for a friend, could not give up my own copy. Recommend to anyone who wants to quit smoking and the best part is you get to smoke the entire time you read the book so there is no reason to wait and you have nothing to lose. This book just rewires the way your brain thinks about smoking and not smoking.
I'm not quite done reading this book. I smoked a pack a day. I work 12 hr shifts at a hospital. A pack now lasts me 3 days, and i'm not even trying. Seriously, it's like i look up and go "wow.. it's 2 in the afternoon and i havent smoked since i clocked in!". Looking forward to finishing the book and putting out my last cigarette.
Alot of people at work were quitting after reading the book and months later are still smoke free. I really enjoyed reading the book. Just keep an open mind and be positive, read it twice if you have to and have poeple close to you read it to. They can be very supportive if they know what your approach to quitting is.
This book really gives you a different perspective on the idea of quitting smoking. The suggestions are simplistic but as human beings we tend to make "giving something up" very difficult and think of it as climbing Mt. Everest; however, this book shows you that you are in fact giving up nothing but GAINING so much. The chapters are a bit redundant, almost like the author needed to add chapters, but overall it's a good book. So far, I have been smoke free for 2 weeks, 5 days, 19 hours, 22 minutes, 45 seconds, saved $69.51, didn't smoke 231 cigarettes, and have saved 19h and 54 min off of my life. This book helped to change my attitude about quitting. I wanted to quit so there were other factors involved but this book definitely helped.
I am going to be 40 years old this year. I started smoking when I as 15 years old. Smoking was like breathing to me. I went through at least a carton a week... often more. This book made the "impossible" POSSIBLE! The patch, being hypnotized, accupuncture, nicotine gum.... None of the these things helped me. I had quite several times before... and never made it more than a week. Well, I celebrated 1 YEAR SMOKE FREE ON APRIL 8TH.... I actually purchased this book several times now... to buy for friends & family who smoked. It has worked for them too. It was one of the easiest things I have ever done.. and I am so proud to say I am a NON SMOKER. The hardest part was convincing me to READ THE BOOK. Every time a "non-smoker" would make suggestions on how to quite smoking... all it did was make me want to smoke more.... The author of this book was a CHAIN SMOKER... he has truly changed my life. I promise you... society has us so brainwashed into believing that quilting is hard... IT'S NOT... Nicotine withdrawals are no more difficult than minor hunger pains... This book not only teaches you that... BUT MAKES YOU OPEN YOUR EYES, REALIZE & BELIEVE IT... THIS BOOK HAS SAVED ME OVER $40 A WEEK... WHICH IS OVER $2,000 A YEAR! I believe that information is power and I bought this book to help my folks to stop this nasty (in every way) habit. Millions of people are dying everyday and we either live with or live around family an friends who still do it regardless of record numbers of people dying because of it. It seems no lessons are being learned.
I read this book 7 years ago and quit smoking with no problems. No withdrawal agony, none of the things I'd heard happen when you quit smoking. I have not had a cigarette since I read this book. Because I was so impressed with how easy it was for me to quit, I have, over the course of 7 years, purchased and given away over 50 copies of this book. Over 35 people that I know of quit by reading this book. I now have had a few people who didn't want to quit when I told them about this book ask for copies, which is why I purchased some recently on eBay. It is quite remarkable! It is a very easy book to read, and I would have to say there is nothing profound about it. It simply works for some reason. If you want to quit smoking, I would read this book!
I bought this book after hearing a comedian on the Bob & Tom Show say he had not smoked for 2 years and was a chain smoker. I was amazed that I had no headaches when I quit and have only gained a pound or two after 6 weeks of not smoking. I was a smoker for 30 years, pack or more a day. This book made you really stop and think. It wasn't all about scare tactics. It was about the joy of being free from smoking. A great read for someone thinking about quiting or someone trying to help someone quit.
This book really does work! I wasn't even "ready" to quit smoking, but I did. I smoked for over 30 years and now after 7 months, I can honestly say I do not miss smoking!!! It was way easier than I ever imagined!! I've purchased three copies of this book, and given 2 away. This is the ONLY alternative to those nasty replacement nicotine things they try to get people addicted to instead of smoking! If I can do it anyone can!!!!!!!!

I READ THIS BOOK AND REALLY ENJOYED THE PHILOSOPHY OF IT. I LEARNED ALOT ABOUT THE HABIT OF SMOKING. SOME I RE-READ BECAUSE SOME PARTS GOT COMPLICATING. I READ FEEDBACK FROM OTHER EX-SMOKERS AND HOW THEY QUIT. THIS IS HOW I HEARD OF THE BOOK. I GO BACK TO IT, AT TIMES, WHEN I HAVE CRAVINGS. MOST OF THE THINGS HE SAYS I AGREE WITH. SOME, I DO NOT. BUT I THOUGHT THIS BOOK WAS EXCELLENT AND IT HELPED ME. I STILL FEEL THERE IS REALLY NO EASY WAY TO QUIT. IT GETS BETTER AS TIME GOES ON.

This book is a must have for smokers trying to quit the nasty habit. It is not like all those other books out there. The author of this book is well known world-wide for helping people quit. After i was done reading, i threw all my cigarettes away, and now i have been smoke free for 3 months!! I have no cravings or urges,did not gain any weight,and i breathe so much better now!! I ordered this book as a last resort,smoking for over 25 years I have tried everything and every new medicine which the doctors say will end your smoking,well the first few days would always destroy me....all the withdraws,I thought I was dying,all the good thoughts and ideas I had now were turning to the (Well it is the only bad habit I have),maybe just a few a day will not be as bad for me....you know all the excuses for starting back up with the I will buy this one pack and only smoke a few a day only when I have to have them...we all know how long this one last....With all the tries I had just about giving up to the idea I can not quit ever...Then a freind told me about a book by Allen Carr...I purchased it with not a lot of hope that this would be the big one that helped me to put down my cigs...When the book arrived to my house I left it lying on the bar for a few days and one afternoon picked it up and started to read...Everything in the book hit home with all the excuses I had made for years,the drug I have to have to live my life,the life I lived around my pack of cigs....Well I still don't understand what happened to me the day I finished the book and threw away my smokes for good...It has been weeks now and not the first draw have I taken,I had some bad moments but they passed quickly as I now know the truth of what this drug does to us and controls us and I refuse to ever let it take hold of me and run my life like it did for 25 years....I am not a strong willed person or I thought not till I read this wonderful book and I proved I can be stronger than any drug habit....I can not recommend this book enough for anyone who has the want and hope to put your habit down for good....Good Luck I know you can do it!! I don't know how but it's been over 3 weeks now and I haven't had a single smoke. I had been smoking for almost 10 years and tried to quit multiple times. Honestly, while reading the book, I didn't feel it was anything extraordinary nor did I feel Mr. Carr was telling me any information I didn't already know. However, I can't argue with the results - any smoker who really WANTS to quit should read this book. A very easy read and you have nothing to lose.
I LOVED this book for one reason - IT WORKS!!! I have been smoking for 15 years. I have quit several times using different methods, all of which did not work because I eventually started smoking again. The author was a chain smoker who smoked more than 100 cigarettes per day. If he could quit, I figured it was worth reading to see how he did it. This book helped me realize that I didn't need substitutes in order to quit. I wasn't depriving myself by quitting and I wouldn't miss anything about it when I did quit. You are supposed to smoke while you are reading the book, which, to me, was a bonus, since before reading the book, I wasn't quite ready to give up smoking. I must say that, after finishing the book, I was truly ready to stop AND I DID!!! Although it's only been 10 days since I stopped, I feel better than ever! I know that I WILL NOT start again and I don't even need a substitute to help with the withdrawal, because, in all honesty, I'm not experiencing any. IT IS A GREAT BOOK and if you've ever considered becoming a non-smoker, THIS BOOK IS A MUST!
This book is absolutly wonderful! I smoked for 10 years, and I have now been a non-smoker for 6 weeks! It feels great to be smoke free, and the best part is there were no cravings, no withdrawl and no weight gain. If you are a smoker, or have loved ones who smoke, buy this book!
Pack-a-day 7 year smoker. It works in that it just simply works. I don't smoke any more. My first time ever trying to quit. Easy to read. No guilt and best of all, no withdrawal. That was my biggest fear.
I LOVED this book!! I have stopped smoking so many times in the last 25 years that I lost count. When I heard of this book, I thought "What can it hurt?" and ordered a copy. Well, the man walks you through the process, at your own pace, and by the time you finish the book you really don't want another cigarette. I don't know if it's a self-hypnosis or just a clearer understanding of the pitfalls and triggers that make the habit what it is; I would say the latter. Whatever it is, it works, and I have since given away four more copies to friends and relatives, and will probably give away more.

This book is very easy to read and you dont have to stop smoking until you are done with the book. By the end of the book you will be happy to smoke your last cigarette and even happier to say Isnt nice to be a non-smoker! If you know someone who smokes and you want them to stop, give them this book. If you are a smoker now and you are ready to stop paying for a slow death, then read this book!!!
