Great metaphors about life throughout every book in the series. These should be read during every decade of life. New insight will surely be found every time.

Chronicles of Narnia 7 book set
Review created: 04/09/08

I bought & watched the movie when it came out on dvd. I loved it! So I decided to read the book/books. I had a very hard time obtaining the set.But eventually got them. The books go into a more detailed storyline & are very easy to read & understand. Although I have just started book #2 in my set, I am anxious to keep reading to the end. In the first book from the set I purchased, it tells how the evil witch came to Narnia. I would encourage anyone, of any age to read this set of books.

The Chonincles of Narnia purchase was a great one. It is a timeless series of fantasy, and it is intermingled with spiritual truths by the Author C.S. Lewis.

The quality of the books was only fair torn covers and pages falling out but it was still a good purchase. I am into the reading not the looks so much. I think everyone should have a copy of this series in their own personal library.

I've wanted to read Chronicles of Narnia for a long time now. I never got around to it, and the movie came out. I didn't see it, but friends did and said it was good. So I finally brought myself to buy them and so far I've read the first two. They're absolutely fantastic! Getting ready to read the rest of them.

  Narmia or Not?

I teach middle school special education students and had not yet read "The Chronicles of Narnia". I wanted to get the set of books and read them this summer to use when school starts this fall. I wanted a complete set of new or like-new books for a good price...and that is exactly what I got. I have just begun "Ebaying" and learning what might be good deals and what might not be. I checked the price of a set of Narnia books at some bookstores to compare prices and know how to bid. I WON....Now I just need to read them and decide how I want to use it in my classroom! I'm having fun!

This is a fantastic series of books. I feel like a child again. I look forward to reading the stories as much if not more than my children do. The stories have such symbolism and adventure and are written so well. I heard the audio tapes which are excellent as well and decided that it was time to have a copy of the books as well. They will be a well used part of our home library for years to come.

  Fantastic series - A must-read!

This set is hands down both my favorite fantasy series and my favorite children's book series. I've read them to myself, for my own enjoyment, and I've read all seven books out loud to my kids. Reading them out loud is a great experience. At the end of a chapter, when I had intended to quit, the kids would beg me to keep reading! Every one of the kids, from 5 to 15, were spellbound.

I strongly feel, however, that the books should be read in the order they were written, and as Lewis intended them to be read. That is: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; Prince Caspian; The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; The Silver Chair; The Horse and His Boy; The Magician's Nephew; The Last Battle.

Many people are only familiar with the first book because of the just-released movie (which was very good). I also found The Voyage of the "Dawn Treader", The Horse and His Boy, and others to be equally delightful, with equally enchanting characters. There are excerpts from several of the books that I find simply and profoundly unforgettable. And last, but not least, the Christian symbolism is refreshing, and at times deeply moving.

Fantastic set. If you haven't read it, hesitate no longer!

Intelligent, Inspiring Fantasy Fiction for All Ages

I'm not much of a re-reader ~ once through a book is usually enough for me. But these (referring to the whole series) are different. I read them as a child and was amazed when I read them again as an adult; how deep and encouraging and full of truth they are! I have read them at least 3 times as an adult and would not be at all bored to do it again. Some fiction leaves one yearning for magic powers or the alternate world of the story setting. These books may spark your desire to make magic with what is at hand, in the setting you see when you close the cover. Good moral and spiritual food for children and adult minds, these will entertain you while doing you well all at the same time.
