Boondocks... politically incorrect, funny, amazing
) This DVD collection of the first season of the Boondocks is an edgy, politically incorrect, and hilarious look at race and socio-economic politics through the eyes of a set of engaging, well animated characters. Not for the easily offended or faint of heart, MacGruder cuts straight to the heart of race tropes and headline issues with biting wit and complete disrespect and disregard for "inappropriate topics". Definitely for ages 18+, and definitely both touching, shocking, and hilarious at the same time.

) For those who are new to The Boondocks, it was first a popular comic strip written by Aaron McGruder. The comic strip was later developed into an animated TV Show who's first season is completely contained in this box set. The story follows brothers Huey and Riley Freeman who get moved out of the 'hood' to live with their grandfather Robert Freeman to a predominantly white up-scale neighborhood. Both the series and the comic strip have heavy overtones that satirize Pop-culture, race relations, and American social issues... however, the series maintains a constant element of humor and entertainment. Another element present in the first season is McGruder's love of Japanese animation which he displays in occasional fight scenes and in the imaginations of his characters. All and all, the series is an instant hit and perfectly brings McGruder's comic to life.

I loved the DVD. Loved it, loved it, loved it!!! I do plan to purchase season 2 in the future. (like next week!) This was an excellent purchase for me. Now me and my adult friends can sit back, laugh, and enjoy some cartoons made especially for adults. The Boondocks gets rave reviews in my book and I am a fan for life.

This is a very great and entertaining show to watch, and it is very worth the buy. Huey, the main character of the series projects intelligent insights of the many wacky, if not manic plots (much like Dr. Dorian from Scrubs).
The quality of the plots, voice acting, and animation are all outstanding. You'll find yourself watching the same episodes over and over again!
And while those three factors do contribute to the general experience, the constant laughs just keep on coming as well, while the series still stick to realism and the cultural influences that come with it.
Overall, this is a great series and with the price (18.95 USD at Target!), it is definitely worth the buy.

Whether you enjoy a good satire or not, The Boondocks is laugh-out-loud funny! Aaron McGrudder brings to light the myths and stereotypes of the Black Experience in America in a utterly thought provoking manner. McGrudder's vision leaves the audience smiling yet energized about changing the way we view not only race relations but our own image as well.

I Loved this cartoon since the first time i saw it on cartoon network. They say things in the show that are not ment for children (why its on late at night). Very up front cartoon, if u don't like offensive material (like racial jokes)i would not recomend this cartoon for you. But for those of u who are not uptight go on, watch it! its hilarious!

One of my fiance's favorite showsI had to get this first season set of The Boondocks for my fiance because about half of the episodes were clogging up our DVR list! He was very excited about having the set and he can't wait until the second season comes out.

The Boondocks Tell the Truth and it is Funny!!I never liked the cartoon in the paper, but after seeing a couple of episodes on Adult Swim, I had to see them all. MEDICAL DISCLAIMER - I laughed so hard at times I would start wheezing. You should only watch this if you are healthy and can take brutal honesty about race and how "The Man" is viewed by the Freeman brothers. BUY THIS DVD.

The Boondocks - Season 1This is a must for any animation fan. I have always been a animation fan (Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Family Guy, etc...). The Boondocks has become my favorite TV Show! The writting is excellent, the shows are controversial and provocative. This show makes the viewer think, laugh, and look at the actions of his or her own life. Also, I think Uncle Ruckus is the funniest character of all time!!!
I can not wait for Season 2 to come out on DVD.

The Boondocks is one of those series that require you have a good sense of humor! If you're too uptight and you get pissed off over little things, don't wander into Boondocks territory, chances are you'll get offended. If you can watch South Park or Chapelle Show without wanting to scream out "THAT'S RACIST!" then you WILL enjoy The Boondocks!
The characters are hilarious and stereo-typical, but at the same time twist in little bits of the truth in there. That's why I appreciate shows like this, because they reflect how messed up society is, yet in a comedic way. There are lots of things that society and politics do wrong, and comedians and cartoonist always pick at them in humorous ways and The Boondocks has a way of showing you how crazy our world is, in it's own universe!
I love everything in this show from the messages of the episodes, to the characters and dialogs, the little action scenes they have and the music!
If you can look past the language and can stomach Adult Swim/Comedy Central and if you love smart, witty humor with a razor sharp tongue, you'll LOVE The Boondocks!
