The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2008, DVD)

This tale about the end of Jesse's life wasn't quite what I had expected. The portrayal I had of Jesse James that he was a dirty, dusty train robber. Jesse, according to this story had a double life and was a suited up business man using a different name by day...with a wife and child. We bought this movie because we are big fans of the "Old West", this movie wasn't really "Old West".

Product was good and in excellent condition, service and communication was
excellent would gladly do business with this person again.

I wonder if the people that made this movie ever really checked into verifiable history and photos of Jesse and Frank, et al. Seemed to be a collection of too many old "dime novels". James Carville was excellently cast though. He seemed to be the highlight of the movie. I bought it as it is "family" history although I found no history in it so I will sell it.

WE'VE ALWAYS ACCEPTED THE TWO DIMENSIONAL VIEW I.E. JESSE WAS A "ROBIN HOOD" HERO WHILE BOB WAS A CRAVEN COWARD.. THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT. BRAD PITT AND CASEY AFFLECK DO A SUPERB JOB OF SUBTLE (SOMETIMES NOT SO SUBTLE) CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.. HERE JESSE IS A BUDDING PSYCHOPATH AND BOB IS A HUMAN BEING TRAPPED BY CIRCUMSTANCES, NOT AT ALL A COWARD.. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF THOUGHT PROVOKING THINGS IN THIS MOVIE -- DON'T MISS THE REFLECTIONS IN THE GLASS..ANOTHER COOL THING IS THAT THE GUNS ARE PROPER AS IS THE HISTORICAL SEQUENCE OF EVENTS. ACTUALLY, AS FAR AS HISTORY GOES, IT FITS -- I LIKE IT !!!!!!!!!!

movie was dissapointing but interesting to learn how jesse james lived his life. unlike the movie 'gone baby gone' finally casey afflect plays a role he knows well, wimpy, insecure and needy. this is the perfect role for him because that's how i see him in real life. definitely not a tough guy, that's why 'gone baby gone' was not believable.

We really like western movies.We own most of John Waynes movies,and enjoy seeing thhem over and over. Brad Pitt was very good in this movie,along with the great cast.

as always a great performance from brad pitt with no complaints about the rest of the cast pitt is truly one of the best actors of his generation while the actor playing the coward robert ford plays the role with an almost creepy smarmy charm believe it or not the movies almost makes you feel like you are alive back then and you are almost feel pulled into ths storyline also near the ending scenes of the movie when they are in the old saloon and nick cave is plating and singing the song about robert fors it seems to pull it altogether especially with the soundtrack done by warren ellis and nick cave

This is a DVD movie, a western staring Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck. Good flick about Bob Ford who grew up with Jesse, and tries to join the gang of Missouri outlaws. In the long run Bob becomes resentful of Jesse.

Boring movie with lame acting throughout, especially by pitt...I kept watching it hoping it would pick up the pace...It didn't...As a western it was pretty pathetic...The art of making a great western has truly been lost...It's also very obvious that the movie was not filmed in Missouri where Jesse James lived and died...I gave it a poor rating...JMK...

I saw this movie and I really enjoyed it. But I didn't get to see the ending, when I watched it. I have wanted to see it ever since. A couple of days later I looked on eBay and there it was. Also it was at a very good price.

The cinematography in this film is amazing. It is indeed very slow, but meant to establish a connection to the characters and is true to the real life and death of Jesse James from start to finish. I suppose they could've thrown in some things to spice it up a bit-- but then it would be as lame as the "American Outlaws" Jesse James film (most likely the kind of film the people who left negative reviews enjoy...). So if you can't appreciate art direction, REALISM, and excellent performances by all actors on screen-- while staying true to history, then do not buy this.

ok movie but not much of a western.. just a people story.. if you want to see a western this is not the movie for you..

I bought The Assassination of Jesse James because I am a BIG fan of Brad Pitt and have most of his movies. This is one of the worst made movies that I have seen in a while.

I went ahead and bought this movie based on what I heard, not from watching it previously. This was a big mistake. I don't know what it was about this movie, but all I could from about 30min into the movie was watch the timer on my DVD player, and wait until the movie was over. It had some good performances by Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck but to me this movie moved as slow as a turtle with a broken leg. Maybe that is the type of movie some people like, but I would say rent it before you buy it.

Brad Pitt is my wifes fav actor, as well as my own. We buy all of his movies and decided to give e-bay a try this time. We got a decent price on it and it was a great movie. Would have liked to have seen a little more Brad Pitt in it though, my wife would say. Overall, great!

well, this movie is interesting. when i bought it, i thought it would be better. the movie is long and slow, it takes a while for things to unfold, and it takes alot of paying attention to understand whats going on. some theres are not revealed well. the movie was decent, its not brads best performance but itll work for me.

I really like Brad Pitt. He and Casey did a very good movie about Jesse James. I like all Jesse James movies.

I did not like the fact that it was not a full screen DVD. It was narrow. The movie it self was not what I expected. Not as detailed as I had seen in other movies and the books I had read.

A great western that is based on the true story of Jesse James. Brad Pitt does an excellent job of portraying Jesse James. Movie was also produced by Brad Pitt. I highly recommend this movie.

This is one of the best western movies ever made! I can see why some people didn't like it, but for people who love documentories, it is the best! I still do not understand why they did not open the film in more places when it was at the theaters. It was almost like they just made it for dvd only. I am now waiting on the book which the film was made after, and cannot wait for that as well. Pitt was brilliant as James, and Casey A., also brilliant as R. Ford. In my opinion, the man who played Charlie Ford also should recieve applause for his work. I hope in the future more docudramas are going to be made. A must for history buffs! It leaves you wanting more info on the life of J. James and F. James. I wish the movie went into detail about what happend with Frank after Jesse died. He went on trial and would love to know! I loved it..It was quite different from all the other westerns I have watched..I learned alot about Jesse James and to me it was a an awesome biography and Brad Pitt was great again..Casey Afleck did a great job as the Ford Brother..You really need to buy this..You will be surprised..

Extremely slow character development. Could have been 2 hours shorter. Just a bad flick overall. Brad pit gives an Ok performance but has no one to back him up.
