Robert Duvall is a very good actor. He is one of my favorite. This is another old movies. I enjoying watching movies of the 70's to 80's. This movie is really hard to find at stores I tried looking for it and couldn't find it. So that is why I ordered it. I am a movie person, there are a couple of movies I've been looking for and I can not find them on DVD only on VHS. They are that old.

This is an exceptional movie. Robert Duvall is exellent. One of the better movies that has managed to be made. My wife and I have enjoyed it everytime we need an uplifting movie with no vulgarity, violence, profanity.

A very good movie about a man who turns his life around before it is to late. A man who achieved great success and fame to only find that the things that matter most are much greater and far more humble and less exploited. This lesson is taught by a simple woman and her young boy who are not aware they are harboring a famous country western singer.. Story is similiar in some ways to more recent film.. Pure Country..

TENDER MERCIES As I was browsing through the video store the other night I noticed this movie among those older movies that get forgotten and then can resurface every now and then when all the new releases are out. Reading through the blurb on the jacket cover I realized that I hadn t seen this one yet. Then noticing Robert Duvall plays the leading role, I had to wonder why did I miss this? I ve heard of it, yet had never rented it, nor had caught it on HBO. Duvall is one of my favorite actors, and consequently I m usually never disappointed with his films. Time Magazine calls this movie, "Best American movie of the year." Apparently, 1983 was not a 'very good year' for American movies. In my estimation this one would qualify as a sleeper. Though written by Horton Foote who was outstanding as the creator of "Trip to Bountiful" his talent is not hallmarked by this production. Its main character is Mac Sledge played by Robert Duvall. When I first saw this movie in 1983 I walked out of the theater having realized that I had just seen nearly flawless filmmaking. Each time I have seen it, I feel the same way. Success, failure, and redemption is a trio addressed with some frequency in the cinema, but rarely is it done so sweetly and serenely as in this very down-to-Earth movie. For all of you Robert Duvall fans, you will rejoice in his portrayal of a broken man who was granted an opportunity to repair his life. Duvall detractors may find a reason to admire him in this incredibly sensitive role. I shall say no more about it....
