I have no idea how many times I have listened to this CD, but I'm surprised that it still plays. Sometimes it and my other Sting CDs are in my player for months on end and I never get tired of hearing the songs.

This man can write lyrics and music like a dream. I was fortunate enough to see him in concert (with Annie Lennox, no less) in Tampa 2 years ago and it was the best concert I have ever experienced. In spite of a majority of the crowd being up past their bedtimes, we still rocked....who says 55+ can't cut the mustard anymore?

I really have no favorite tune on this CD...I love them all!

 The ULTIMATE Sting!
Review created: 01/08/07

Nothing even STING has done comes close to the beauty of this album. It is a "greatest hits" CD without touting as much. If you even remotely like Sting, this (and Soul Cages) could just make you a LOVER of Sting. This CD will become a favorite....I promise!

Sting singing about undying love in Fields of Gold is perfect, and it was redone perfectly by the late Eva Cassidy...the perfect song to re-do, but only if you dare! Sting is even my 17 year old DAUGHTER'S favorite...she has posters of him on her walls. Classic!

 Sting: 10 Summoner's Tales (1993)
Review created: 10/30/04

Pros:
A playful, exuberant piece of rockin' jazz and overall weirdness.

Cons:
Serious slump in the middle, it's not particularly touching.

Ten Summoner's Tales was the last album released by Sting before the famously comprehensive Best Of compilation, which also just so happens to be the first CD I ever seriously considered buying (back when I was still in my cassette phase). In many ways, because of the timing, this was the last album we would ever see from what I call the "Summer Sumner" version of Sting. After the Best Of came and went, the mercury started falling. And since then, all Sting's album covers have been dark by comparison. So has the music. Although I have always been a huge fan of the introspective Sting, I don't.

Ten Summoner's Tales: Faith, Hope, Love and Passion (5 Star Album Write Off)
Review created: 07/31/01

Pros:
Lighter, more sarcastic Sting on this trip

Cons:
Some of the songs are a bit limp, but still much better than most pop.

Sting has a seemingly endless bag of tricks to draw upon for his music and lyrics. Each of his albums have a theme to them, the lyrics containing sly wit and puns, images and imagination, and no wonder he has a loyal following of fans that eagerly snap up his releases. Blending ballads, a touch of country twang, and a variety of styles, Sting's offerings on this CD are an eclectic mix, and still are fresh almost a decade after the initial release. This is a cd for when I want to feel happy and a bit of romance. If I Ever Lose My Faith in You This one got heavy air time when it was released....

Ten (Well, Eleven) Engaging Tales From The Oh-So-Pretentious Mind Of Sting
Review created: 12/11/05

Pros:
Some of Sting's most carefree sounding work, including several sizzling ballads.

Cons:
"Hi, I'm Sting, and I'm smarter AND better looking than you are!"

Everyone has their pretentious buddy. The guy you can't help but respect because of their intelligence, but can'6t stand at times because he KNOWS how intelligent he is. Either that, or he's one of those unfortunate ones who thinks he's smarter than he really is. It's a definite love/hate relationship, and not many musicians are loved/hated more than the former schoolteacher who his momma calls Gordon Sumner, but everyone knows as Sting. Let's take a look at this album, his fourth studio album since leaving The Police at the end of the "Synchronicity" tour in 1983. The title, "Ten Summoner's..

 Sting Tells Some Tall Tales...
Review created: 08/22/03
by: bob_tomato-- a member of Epinions and Lead in Music

Pros:
Sting has some fun telling some interesting stories from his dining room

Cons:
a little fluffy for us purists, but they can't all be The Soul Cages

Song List If I Ever Lose My Faith In You Love Is Stronger Than Justice (The Munificent Seven) Fields Of Gold Heavy Cloud No Rain She's Too Good For Me Seven Days Saint Augustine In Hell It's Probably Me Shape Of My Heart Something The Boy Said Epilogue (Nothing 'Bout Me) Ten Summoner's Tales "The title is a mild literary joke because my name, Sumner, comes from the medieval name Summoner and a Summoner was someone who summoned you to court or to see the king. Foxy_shy s one-man Sting and the Police W/O: Part III the Laureate

Pros:
Every darn second of it

Cons:
I wish When We Dance was included

There are albums that grow on you. And there are albums you grow to appreciate. Funny, but my experience proves 10 Summoner s Tales to be one of the latter. My first Sting album, there were days when I really was into it. Then other great albums took its place, and when the time came to write a review I gave it a four I just wasn t listening to it anymore. These days, sitting at my desk, reading some textbook by candlelight (just passed my second exam five yet to come!!), this album s become one of my best pals. I guess good albums they get tricky sometimes. 4th LP, 10 Summoner s Tales finds..
