I was in college when this first came out -- I loved it then, I must have worn out my old vinyl.... I happened to see Carole King on a PBS special last week and it brought back all the old feelings I had in 1971. She is a great songwriter and such a natural singer and performer. I have talked to young kids today and they are discovering the old Carole King and James Taylor songs -- and loving them, too! Her delivery is still fresh and the songs are timeless. You cannot go wrong with this cd.
I think that the remastered one probably has better sound to it, seeing that times have changed with sound quality, but I really think this music, old or new, IS Carole King, at its best!!
Loved this item. Brought me back to my teenage years. Playing it constantly. I have not heard these songs since the 70's, when I was a Hippie!! My kids hate it and that is just another perk!
I had this Album years ago when it first came out. I was burnt up in a house fire. When I did a search and found it on CD, I knew I had to have it. She has a beautiful voice and the songs take my memory back in time.
This disk brought me back to 1971 when it was first released on lp. these songs were probably the first songs that told short stories in a lovely vocal pattern with a rock spanking pinao. It was a shame Carole did not like to go on the road. only a couple of albums came after that. but when i hear these songs my memory is jolted and a lovely feeling passes thru me. Thanks Carole i wish you the very best.
This one of the classic albums of the rock era. My old LP finally wore out, so I broke down and bought the CD on Half.com. You can always count on getting a nice copy of all the great albums there at bargain prices. I think I paid less $4 for this nice copy, including shipping. I especially wanted to renew my love of her original version of "So Far Away.'' The Crusaders, with Larry Carlton's terrific guitar work, do a great 12-minute version of this, which is one of my all-time favorites. I recommend that anybody who likes this Carole King song check out the Crusaders' studio version. Also, for those who want to learn about the great Brill Building songwriters who helped shaped popular music, check out all the great song s Carole King and her then husband Jerry Goffin wrote. An amazing talent. "It's Too Late'' was her first solo success and it was a massive hit. What memories!
