This is a "must have" for anyone wanting to hear the evolution of one of the Great Voices of the 20th Century, before he was turned into a freak by Col. Tom Parker and the Media. In some cases, it is a contradiction between the flawless voice and the out-of-tune Kay guitar. The progression to the controlled studio recordings proves that Evolution is real! The talents represented here are incredible, including the guitar work of Carl Perkins, as well as "Scotty & Bill". I was somewhat surprised that so many of these tracks were actually recorded at Sun, since I only previously knew of them from being released on RCA. The main things I didn't like were the noises from the poorly preserved originals (unavoidable), and a racial slur heard during some of the verbal dialogue (typical of the era, but still unnecessary, especially considering that the next US President will no doubt be a member of this particular ethnic group). Overall, a B+.
