Kick ass movie, A must own.
Review created: 05/13/08

Talk about original plot. I want to see it over and over. What a story. If you're tired of watching formulaic movies from the U.S. who's plots are so predictable, than you must watch, Suicide Club.

  Blood
Review created: 10/08/06

Lot's of blood is an understatment.
If you like Japanese horors check out this one...
This movie has everything blood, fingers, violance, music, even somewhat or a plot. Well not that it is compleatly comparahndble. So for us freaks like them kind of things except for occasional parts that are too graphic. It's not half bad.
PS

I had herd about this movie for a long time but never came across it untill I saw it on Ebay. This is a strange movie about a musical act that is controlling a large amount of the population. The title says it all a lot of blood and gore several strange plot twist and turns. Special effecta are low low budget but over all it is a good movie if you like the weird ones. If you are looking for something different this is for you.

  Suicide Club
Review created: 08/01/06

Suicide Club is a very dark Japanese drama. It's a social commentary through the use of a film medium on the Japanese views of life, death, and rebirth. It takes place in Tokyo and follows two cops as the follow a trail of suicides and must determine whether they are really suicides or some type of murder.

Dark, gritty, and compelling Suicide Club makes you really think about the meaning of relationships between family and friends. This movie is not for kids or those with weak stomaches. It's unique film style and use of lighting, storyline, and look at Japanese culture has brought this movie to the top of my favorites list.

Pros:
Interesting

Cons:
Confusing

I wonder what people can tell about us by the movies that our society produces. I enjoy foreign films mostly because they offer a very different perspective than the standard Hollywood take on Love, Death, and Life. As a disclaimer, I will state that although I am fascinated by Japan, and Japanese culture, I in no way understand it. Then again, I am not so certain I understand some aspects of culture here in the US. That being said, Suicide Club seems to be some sort of bizarre statement about Japanese culture. Seeing this movie did little to improve my understanding of Japanese culture. Plot.

Halloween Horror: The day Rimmer joined the Samaritans
Review created: 10/27/04
by: sadgit -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
gets under the skin before you notice

Cons:
on the surface nothing is really connected to.

It's only four days away now- St. Hallows eve. 'Tis the season to be creepy and watch scary movies, but quality horror movies for the Halloween slumber party are not really Hollywood's best forte anymore since the 70's ended. Indeed at the moment it appears that the best Horror movies coming out now are from Japan. Horror movies by director Hideo Nakata and novelist Koji Suzuki like "Ringu" and "Dark Water" had drawn me in, hook line and sinker to a new wave of truly avant guarde J-Horror. Contemplative and creepy, psychologically subversive, emotion piercing and seemed to creak open a crack..

I give up on the Suicide Club
Review created: 09/06/04

Pros:
Innovative opening and reasonably good acting and effects.

Cons:
Extremely confusing, frustrating, and disappointing. And gory.

THE SUICIDE CLUB (Japanese 2001) - that's the title on the US DVD but also the title of a rather famous (and completely unrelated) short story by Robert Louis Stevenson -- also known as THE SUICIDE CIRCLE, and the JISATSU CIRCLE (or ... CLUB) got some very favorable reviews, including on E-pinions, but I couldn't make heads or tails out of it. The author and director was Shion Sono, who evidently previously churned out gay porno flicks. This film got the 2001 Fantasia Awards, of which I know nothing but apparently this is a Japanese (or Pan-Asian) sci-fi film prize. The beginning is...

Before It Begins, take a minute to pause

Pros:
Makes you think. Alot. Good Date Movie.

Cons:
There's no real ending, all that thinking leads to nowhere.

Suicide Club, winner of a couple of awards from the Fantasia Film festival, aka the sci-fi convention of pacific moviemakers, was brought to america one day and given subtitles and left for innocent Americans to stare at and wonder. What the heck was that? Secretly I believe that Japanese culture as a whole who saw this was like, what the heck too. Any person who doesn't think, wow, that movie made my head hurt should probably get their head looked at. Anyways, to move on to the plot of the movie, I warn you that if you are under the age of 18, or are weaked by reading gory details. Please...

Suicide Club - Why Don't We Cut Our Wrists In Mass- Yeah!
Review created: 05/27/07
by: tiger62x -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
None

Cons:
Long, convoluted, pointless, uninteresting 'thriller'

This looked as if it would be an interesting foreign film, and quite and interesting psychology thriller, wrong. Fifty four school girls hold hands and jump in front of a train, what is going on? Well I'll tell you, Sion Sono wants to be edgy, cutting edge even, Japan can have freaks as well. I believe that part of truly enjoying this film has to do with truly understanding and being part of the Japanese culture. Understanding the mentality of we, not I, understanding that the goal is to be part of the unit, working in tandem with the group. Not individuality, in direct contrast to the...
