Pros:
a classic from a rock legend, shows a rare side of his writing ability
Cons:
none
Bruce Springsteen re-staked his claim as the modern day Bob Dylan with his 1994 release Streets of Philadelphia . Springsteen, who has made a career of writing from the perspective of the lower middle class, would go on to win both an Oscar and Grammy award for this song full of heartache and hopelessness written as only he could have done. Unlike the majority of Springsteen s more well known songs, Streets of Philadelphia is sung with a sense of great restraint. The Boss, as he has become known, comes across as soft-spoken and quiet during the song a far cry from Thunder Road or Born to Run..
