I love the Captains Log Fan Collective for many reasons the first but not least, is we get to catch up with the all our hero and what they are up to now. I like that we can watch their pick as well as the fan picks. The packaging is very nice and that is important for a Trekkie or Trekker. Another plus is that you can get to your favorite episode without pulling out the entire series. I love it!!!! The only thing I would have loved to have seen is all five Captians gathered together in a circle discussing Trek together. Long Live Star Trek!!!
I bought this for my "Trekie" husband and I had no idea that it was available. He has started watching it and loves it. It arrived in good shape and time. Thanks.
This set makes a great gift. 5dvds with probably 15 episodes of the various star trek series is perfect for someone who wants a few to watch, but can't afford an entire season.
My only complaint is Shatner's and Joan Collins' wigs. creepy. The rest is great.
I really liked Captains' Log as it gave you an opportunity to see the different Star Trek captains, 5 in all, and listen to them before going out and buying any of the seasons. They differentially have very unique personalities and flavors they bring to their position as captain and as expensive as the collections are you may not want to buy all the Star Trek episodes.
My husband and I are big Star Trek fans. We buy the dvd's whenever we find new ones that we don't have. Our favorite Star Trek is Generations but we do own the original Star Trek and all the movies also. I will keep on getting them as long as they are out there to buy. I have purchased just about all of our collection on e-bay.
There is nothing better than having a Star Trek Weekend and getting this "Fan Collective" has given me yet another weekend that I can just relax and let the "world" go by... I can't wait for the snow to fly so that I can join the crew on new adventures!
This is a great compilation of Star Trek episodes in which each of the five captain's (Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, and Archer) is featured on his or her own disc. Most of these choices were voted on by the fans, five of them were chosen by the captains themselves. William Shatner's pick of "City On The Edge Of Forever" was dubious as an example of one of Kirk's best. "The Enemy Within" would have been a far better example of Kirk at his best. Patrick Stewart's choice of "In Theory" would not have been my first choice. (Even though he wasn't in that episode much, Stewart picked it because he, himself, directed it.)The episode "Family" would have been a better selection, in my opinion. It was an amazing example of the talent that is Patrick Stewart. It showed Picard's personal anguish over being forced to participate in the battle of Wolf 359 at the hands of the Borg. The fan's choice of "The Omega Directive" for the best of Captain Janeway is questionable at best. It wasn't one of the best episodes ever written, in my opinion. "Workforce" would have been a far better choice to showcase Captain Janeway. And I highly disagree with the choice of adding the "Star Trek: Enterprise" episode, "These Are The Voyages" to any collection. It was one of the worst episodes ever written!!! It was also one of least liked among the "Enterprise" cast. Although I wouldn't have chosen some of these particular episodes, this was a great collection. I think that they should try to compile other fan collectives in order to showcase the best episodes of some of the other characters.
