Pros:
Duvall kicks out an eerily convincing portrayal. Accurate, moving, beautiful, grim.
Cons:
Most of these guys weren't as harmless in real life as they're depicted here.
In much the same way that scientists must cringe when they see Hollywood abusing their area of expertise, I often shudder when I watch a movie that attempts to teach the public history. Mel Gibson is by far one of the worst offenders (he actually implies in Braveheart that William Wallace fathered Edward III, despite the fact that the Scottish warrior died many years before the young king was even born), but lots of other writers and directors have blatantly misinformed their audience.
