PS2 or XBOX? "OLD GENERATION" Gaming?

With all the "Next Generation" gaming systems out now, it's seems like it was years ago, that the Xbox and Playstation 2 gaming systems were the "it" thing in gaming. To our surprise (fellow gamers that were disappointed by next generation consoles and games), these "old generation" gaming systems seem to fill the gaps when the new sytems either break down or fail to live up to the expectations of gamers. Whether you have or buy an "old" PS2 or Xbox, you will and are probably still getting your money's worth! With the high price tag of "next generation" gaming systems and games, the old systems are going to be sufficient for 99% of gamers worldwide. The only people that get to truely take advantage of some of the next generation gaming properties (like HD Video/Games) are people with HD/LCD TV's. The second main concern is Sony's Blu-ray DVD VS. Microsoft's HD DVD player. You can spend around $500 for a PS3 (with an HD Blu-Ray Player built-in) or $500 for an Xbox 360 with the HD DVD Player included ($200 by itself, if purchased seperately). The question is, which system's HD DVD PLAYER will eventually "take over"? Will the consumer be forced to buy both the PS3 for Blu-ray "exclusive" DVDs and Microsoft's DVD player for Microsoft "exclusives"? The answer is unknown, but the solution is simple...Wait to buy either one! Yeah, it seems nice to own something when it first comes out because you seem to be "in" with the "hip-crowd", but the first release or beta version of anything, generally sucks! The PS3, just like the Xbox 360 with it's first release, had and still has major problems. Overheating, crashing, and suddenly stopping are just a few!
A teacher once said to me, "let the grade match the deed". In a video gaming analogy..."let the system warrant the price". With the high cost of games, consoles, and problems, I highly recommend staying away from "next generation" gaming systems, until the price comes down and all of the bugs have been worked out. An "old" PS2 or Xbox has good graphics, sound, and huge selections of inexpensive games in every genre! The systems are tested tough and are very affordable! The Xbox and PS2 have years left in them and I wouldn't be surprised if they are still gaming machines in 5-7 years from now!!!
