Sony PSP Value Pack - Handheld game system

The Sony PSP arrived on December 14, 2004 amidst a flurry of press, rumors and excitement. If you've read any of my reviews on video games and video game systems, you will know that I'm a Nintendo enthusiast... always have been. My Nintendo excitement mostly stems from the systems (NES, SNES, N64, etc) - but I still have room in my heart for the gameboy lines and the Nintendo DS. That said - I gave the Sony PSP a 'fair shake' and am really impressed!

First things first - the Sony PSP is gorgeous. It screams for attention the way that the iPod line does. Slick design. Huge, brilliant screen that renders fantastic graphics. Browses the internet. Plays DVDs. And more.

The 4.3 inch screen is really the highlight of the PSP. Its beautiful. Whether you are playing a game or watching the Spiderman 2 DVD - its gorgeous and renders graphics wonderfully. So whether you are looking for a portable gaming system or a small movie player, the PSP is a great option.

The PSP is laid out similarly to a regular Playstation controller: the buttons, directional pad, analog stick, L button, R button... The menu and navigational systems are all intuitive and all very much Playstation.

While the video playback feature is super cool - there are a couple weak points. 1) Most everyone agrees that a large Memory Stick Duo card is a necessity to take advantage of the multimedia aspects of the PSP. 2) The multimedia aspects are not perfectly (or fully) developed. The MP3 playback is less sophisticated than some of the new Sony Ericsson cell phones... This is unfortunate because a truly excellent multimedia system would have made the Sony PSP nearly perfect.

The PSP Value Pack is an excellent entry bundle to the PSP - but listings on eBay include the Value Pack and games and/or DVDs for little more. The PSP Value Pack arrives with the PSP, an AC adapter, the battery pack, a 32MB Memory Stick Duo, earbud headphones, and case and a hand strap.

I love it. Yeah it's not a PS2 or a PS3, but it rocks as a handheld system. WiFi works flawlessly, with a little home brew firmware available free on the net you can load a 4 gig, 8 gig, or 2 gig memory stick with games, movies, mp3's and play them all with absolute ease. I have heard complaints of long load times. I personally don't mind waiting 20 seconds of my life for a game I paid nothing for to load off of a Mem Card. I love it!

I love the versatility of the product. I can watch movies I've purchased or ones I've downloaded from Tivo. Great product.

I bid on the psp and paid for it the same day. The item was shipped out immediately and I received it within 2 days which was great because I got it just in time for a long trip that I was making for spring break. I didn't expect so many extras to come with the psp including a car charger and extra case. I think that it was well worth the money that I paid and I would've guessed that the psp not have been used at all because it was in tip top brand spanking new condition! its a easy carry around console and you can take it anywhere and very accessible, has a multitude of games and movies you can purchase

This is the second sony psp with custom firmware I purchased. It does all the same great things that the regular psp does, but with an added bonus. It allows you to play nintendo games and many other formats straight from your memory card. The nagatives are that it's a little morec complicated to use, and it takes a while to load sometimes. Overall it's great if you want to play some of those classic games,as long as you don't mind the occasional freezing. But for me, the loading wait is a deal breaker. I'd rather stick with original.

Being a 20 something year old girl, you'd think I wouldn't enjoy carrying around a PSP, but its the complete opposite! I can do anything on the PSP, including watch videos, listen to music, and play my favorite games in one complete little pack. The controls are easy to use, and being the same as a playstation controller, my hands remember every button, which is very convenient. Other hand held devices are a bit small for my comfort, I feel as though I might break them, or lose a piece like a stylus. The PSP is great for anyone of any age, and the accessories and games available come in a great variety.

I would recommend this product to anyone who enjoys good quality gaming.

I beleive that this machine is the best hand held gaming and multi purpose machine on the market.It also has very good graphics and ease of use,my 6yr. has gotten better than me on it.Not shure about the mp3 part,havn't tried it out yet

The seller sold me a broken PSP and I did not know it was broken until my little boy played it after getting it for Christmas and told me it wasn't working and that it had a crack on the surface of the cover. I am working on getting my $ back but the seller is giving me a hard time.

Was everything and more of what we wanted. Movies and Games work great... Seller was honest in discription. Would buy again.

I needed to replace a stolen PSP and 4G card in a hurry. Everybody is Happy! It was a good by at the time and will be enjoyed for a long time by everyone in the house.
