Well to say the truth i really don't like playing games and so on.. But Sony PSP is interesting not just in playing.. The game quality is not bad i think and it should be interesting for those who like to play a lot and travel... The UMD film quality is really great, almost like dvd. You definitely are getting what you pay for. Simply put, the PSP is an amazing device - it has crystal clear clarity for movies, flash memory for MP3s, and a large assortment of FUN games (as opposed to the DS - but I will touch more on that later). Really, what more could you want?

I don't mean to trash the Nintendo DS ( I have them both), but they clearly are not in same league. This is probably partially by design - the Nintendo DS (Judging by its assortment of games) is designed for kids under the age of 12. With the exception of Super Mario 64 - I have yet to find one game that I enjoy. The PSP already has a much better selection of games, and games that adults actually want to play - notice there is not a "Madagascar" for the PSP. The PSP is designed to be a total entertainment device.

Here are some comparisons and pros and cons-

Graphics-
PSP 5 out of 5 - really they are as good as you could ever expect

DS- 5 out of 5 - maybe a shade worse than the PSP- but still very good

Sound -
PSP - 4 out of 5 Has issues with volume (you almost have to wear the headphones) - but plenty of options for tweaking the set-up

DS - 4 out 5 also a little problem with volume , but not bad

Load TImes
PSP- 2.5 out 5 - clearly this is where the PSP underperforms the DS. The Nintendo DS uses a flash type memory compared to the PSP's optical read. There is a large difference between the two.

DS- 5 out of 5 - The Flash memory is much faster

Games -
PSP- 4 out of 5 - an already large selection and growing by the day. HUGE advantage over the DS

DS- 1.5 out of 5 in my opinion- it only has 1 good game. Supposedely there will be a metroid game released, but I have been waiting for 8 months.

Features-

PSP- Another HUGE advantage over the DS... here is a list of thing you can do on the PSP that you can NOT do on the DS

- Watch/rent movies
- Listen to MP3s off of a flash media card (Much like an ipod)
- view pictures off of your digital camera (or Sony Digital camera at least)

Things you can do on the DS that you can NOT do on the PSP

- draw pictures using a stylus

ADVANTAGE - PSP


Tip: Be VERY careful of the PSP screen not to get it scratched. I can see no easy way of replacing it, and to severely scratch it would be horrible. My advice is (until you can buy the "Real" screen cover) trim a piece of plastic wrap around the screen. The static electricity will cause the plastic wrap to stick and thus protect your screen.

I have purchased an inexpensive case on Ebay for about five bucks. It's made of silicone and completely encases the PSP. Works great and has eased my worried mind!

Its awesome. Simply put. Availability of homebrew, music player, game player, movie player, portabiliy; i just cant get enough of it!

We bought the PSP for my 9 year old son and he absolutly loves it. The graphics are super clear and the screen is a really good size even to watch movies on. We are completely happy with this purchase I would recommend it over the GBA or the Nintendo DS.

The PSP is a great system, with great games, and even better graphics. 10 out of 10. The system has great capabilities and features. I wasn't a playstation fan, but now I have obviously become one. Great system.

Hello everyone. I just recently bought a PSP from his lady, and the some of you think that it was an empty box. Guess what..your wrong. It wasnt. I was actually in brand new condition. The setup screen showed up when i first turned it on. Not one Ding, Nic, Scratch, Fingerprint was in it, and the 2Gig. memory stick was in the psp. It was just like new. So sorry if you were dumb enough to listen to that dude down there that thinks he knows it all..well you missed out on an awsome deal. THIS THING IS AWSOME!!!!!

i bought the psp so my son could play it on trips etc... it works great i only wish you could see it better in the car during the day my son likes it alot and also likes to download music onto it.

ITs wifi room for plenty of memory and a great lcd screen. Love to play real fishing on it! Download a must for any ps3 owner!

I had many console as gameboy, Nintendo DS, Sega but nothing like PSP.

i wanted this console so i could play games while traveling, airplanes long car rides etc. this console has gone far beyond gaming. depending on the memory card size you choose you can hold a large amount of songs, pictures and even movies. the only drawback is the price for the umd disc for the console, but i have found some good prices on the games on ebay. i have yet to tap into the wireless internet aspect of the psp, but if it performs anywhere near how it does with everything else i will not be dissapointed. also, the console offers online gaming where you can play live opponents. i thought this was the greatest feature of a gaming device so small. i would highly reccommend this product to anyone.
