As batteries go for digital cameras this one rates towards the top of my list. I charged the battery for the first time and took over 650 photos before the battery light came on. I recharged it again and got over 700 photos on a charge. I bought a couple batteries as back ups, but I am not sure I will ever need them except on a long trip.
I highly recommend you buy the Sony battery and not one of the knock offs or after market batteries.
