Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 7.2 Megapixel

I did a little research online and even borrowed friends cameras. Too many options and opinions out there. Many cameras were too bulky or power hogs. The Cyrber-shot DSC-W70 is very easy to use. The few controls are easy to learn without spending hours in a manual. The large LCD screen is easy to view in most lighting conditions and the tiny viewfinder is very much usable in direct sunlight. Navigating thru pictures is a breeze and the ability to setup folders for different picture categories or events makes managing the large capacity of photos a breeze. Size is very compact, fits in your shirt pocket. I carry it with me everyday. Power consumption is great and the battery is easy to recharge with the wall charger included in the package.

For a middle of the road compact digital camera this camera is light, full of features the average user will be pleased with. The Sony product line is well known and they continue to delivery quality products.

Our family had a blast easy to learn also if you don't like
any of your pics, very easy to to delete.

my only regret is I did'nt buy one sooner.

I have one for my wife and I decided I wanted one so I went to the auction. Very easy to use and compact.

The camera was in mint conditions, basically like new! sadly i lost it, but i dont have no complaints about anything two thumbs up for one of my favorite seller.

After reading numerous user and professional reviews I purchased a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 7.2 Megapixel camera after it was introduced in 2006. Sony offered several models in the DSC-W series and I picked the next to the top of the line. I love it. I also did comparisons with several other compact cameras and briefly considered a camparable Canon. However, at that time the similar Canon had a much shorter battery life per charge and not as sharp pictures. I'm glad I selected the Sony.

It is very compact, fits in a shirt pocket, and takes very good to excellent pictures with its precision Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lenses. This camera has a fairly rapid next shot picture time, an eye-level view finder (very necessary for outdoor shooting in bright light) and a 2.5” LCD color screen, multiple focusing points, a variety of automatic and manual features, a very compact, lithium-ion, removable battery that is capable of shooting 300 shots on a single charge; 2.0 USB connection, a wide choice of flash operations including manual fill-in flash and no flash; macro shooting to .74"; very easy to use intuitive controls and settings; ISO settings of 100 to 1000; and a number of very useable accessories like wide/telephoto lenses, auxiliary slave flash unit, and a weather resistant sports pack case good to a depth of 10’. Most of the accessories are available in Sony brand or 3rd party offerings and nearly all of them are available on eBay and Amazon. I do not use its MPEG movie feature.

The camera was discontinued in 2007. My wife wanted a DSC-W70 like mine and I recently found numerous “like new” and “new in box” offerings on eBay ranging from 1/3 to ½ the original price of $299.99. I bought one for her for about $125 and she loves it. Since I have some of the Sony accessory lenses and the slave flash, I purchased another a week later on eBay, for less than hers, to use as a “backup” camera. Sony still makes this W series camera line but I was not impressed with the new models as I thought they offered less features important to me. These cameras are very easy to use, have great features, and take great photos. Since both my wife and I now have the same, very compact digital cameras there is no relearning curve to use one another's camera. I no longer lug around cumbersome SLR film or digital cameras and lenses but I do take a compact tripod for some low light and log exposure shots.

I also refuse to participate in the megapixel wars--more is better. I use digital images for PowerPoint presentations and for wallet, 4 x 6, and sometimes 8 x 10 prints. Actually, a 4-megapixel camera is ample for this type of use. The W70 has 7.2 MPs and while it does not have a lot of noise problems it does have an auto noise reduction feature that works quite well for a compact. I think this is a great compact camera and they are readily available on eBay for $90 to $140. One year ago they were selling for $269 to $299 street. The memory and batteries are still offered as they are used in the current DSC-W offerings as are some of the other accessories. If you are interested there are still numerous user and professional reviews for this model on-line.

I really like the fact that its made by Sony, its nice and sturdy and has never failed. It is very relaible and I really encourage people to buy cameras that work!

this is a good camera it works fine pictures come out good and clear i'm very happy with the camera.the only thing that i don't like very much is that when i turn it on the lens makes a funny noise that i'm not to happy with i thought that it was because i got it used so i took a trip to the store and check out the same camera and other sony cameras but they all do the same noise..but other then that it works good like i said.thanks

Camera does NOT work!, Now what do I do? Camera is intermitent - powers up, worked for (1) minute...shut's down will NOT re-boot? Checked batt-OK, charger-OK....and NO manual with camera!!!

I own a silver Sony Cybershot DSC-W70
It's 7.2 megapixels, which make any picture you take look like professional photography on the review screen.
The screen is 2,5" LCD monitor which delivers a breathtaking view of any picture shot on the camera.

The Cybershot is relatively inexpensive now, and a prefect camera for anyone to start learning photography or just to take snapshots.

There's several easy-to-use options on the camera including movie-mode which shoots a video as long as you want (as long as it fits in the memory). You can zoom-in for the video, also.

There are several options for the sensitivity of the camera, as in low-light settings and ISO.

The zoom is great, but the farther you go in, the more shaky it is.

You can turn the flash to several different setting, and turn it off, which makes just as great pictures without the flash.

There's also a Macro feature which allows the camera to focus on objects that are EXTREMELY close-up, which i find is the best feature on the camera. You can take a perfectly clear, great-looking photo of a dime or something smaller, and the picture is still AWESOME.

The camera also comes with a re-chargeable battery, which is a plus, because most inexpensive cameras these days require you to buy batteries seperately.

I have owned this camera for 2 years and it is still in excellent operating condition. I have even dropped it several time, unfortunately, but it still works perfectly. Very durable! And my battery still charges perfectly and flawlessly with no problems!

I was always a Nikon fan until I purchased my Sony Cybershot w70 7.2mega pix. The camera fits in your shirt pocket, but yet it is packed with features. The ease of use is major factor. I was so impressed with the quality of the photos that I am now a converted Sony fan. You cannot beat the Zeiss lens. Great camera at a great price!!!

Well it's been more than 45 days since I bought and PAID for two camercas, from the same seller and I didn't I didn't receive the products, nor the money back yet!! I've sent e-mail to the seller he answered saying that in a 6-week-time I didn't get the cameras he would refund me. Time passed, I sent him an e-mail three days ago, he hasn't answered up to now so it means I have no news about the cameras nor about my money. I hope I get it back soon.

because my friend have one and he show me a very nice pictures.the price was cheaper compare with another cameras.I recommend this w70 because is easy to take a photo and have many features as an expensive cameras in the market.

The Sony Cyber shot series of cameras are great.The 7.2 Cyber shot camera has a larger color display than the 6.0 Cyber shot.I can take pictures in low level lighting and they come out like day.The camera softwear, thats on the camera, is easy to use.Pictures are taken immediately,not like some other cameras were you press the button and wait 5 seconds befor the picture is actualley taken.This camera has a timer too.With a 7.2 Megapixel camera you can easily print an 8X10 or Much Larger.The number of pictures the camera stores depends on the size of the memory card (not included).You can view and delete individual pictures by viewing the color display on the back of the camera.

Absolutely the best camera I have ever used! User friendly and takes high quality photos. Big plus - little or no delay between pushing the shutter button and the camera taking the picture. Tends to wash out a little in high level light/sunlight. the only down side was that I was unable to, despite numerous downloads, drivers and updates, get the camera to download pictures using Windows 2000NT operating system. Works flawlessly with XP.

I have been very pleased with my camera. I updated it from another Sony camera that I have. I am so glad that I purchased this type of camera and it takes very good pictures.

I bought this camera a couple of weeks ago. It has been working ok, I have no problem with the camera.

This camera is so easy to use and gives you great quality pictures. I love this slim lightweight beauty. The large screen is really nice for reviewing your shots. Easy set up, crisp photos and lots of after market accessories are available. So much nicer than my old Sony which was like carrying around a brick. I bought the DSC-W70 after using the ones at work a bit: we work in investigations, and our cameras have to hold up under a wide variety of conditions. They have to be nearly foolproof, ready to shoot with easy changes to focus via the scene menu and offer clear results that will hold up in court. We've used Olympus before, and Pentax 35's, but none could beat this little beauty for ease of use and reliability. It fits in a pocket and takes a beating without missing a beat. The white balance in the auto mode is outstanding for indoor and outdoor shots both, and the flash isn't overwhelming. <br><br>

My one quibble would be the placement of the scene selector wheel. It is too close to the top of the camera and is too easily moved unintentionally. This isn't a camera for big hands unless they belong to someone with a gentle touch. I own four digitals right now myself and this one my clear favorite.

The product was exactly what we wanted. The only thing I didn't like was that it didn't come in its own box. Other than that it was shipped quickly and it is a great product for the price.
