Jimmy Buffett - The ultimate hang-out and party CD.

Pros:
Beach bum music. Stories in song. Eclectic.

Cons:
One song I don't like and one that is not for airplay.

Songs You Know By Heart is a compilation of classic Buffett songs. You may have some problems finding the tape or CD, since it just has the words Jimmy Buffett in red cursive on the yellow front and no mention of Songs You Know By Heart. Even if you look for Buffett on search, you may have some problems. A lot of folks spell it wrong and use just one t. Actually, Epinions logs Buffett in some places spelled Buffet, so if you are interested in his music, then try both spellings. Buffett music cuts across generations. Though he was never a real big star early on or now, he has always gathered.

Pros:
THE BEST CD IN THE JIMMY BUFFETT COLLECTION IN MY OPINION

Cons:
COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT 2 SONGS ON THIS CD

A Modern Day Mark Twain-Who Appreciates a Stiff (Boat) Drink
Review created: 04/22/00

Pros:
The whole damn thing, especially "Why Don't We Get Drunk...".

Cons:
Nada

How can you not love Jimmy Buffett. The man does what everyone modern country singer tries and fails to do: string words together in a "punny" manner and have it come out being clever. It's a trick that St. Buffett (patron saint of beach-loving, boozing men of adventure) pulls off, even though Nashville never gets it right. The reason? It's because Jimmy is a well-traveled, adventurous, observer, and one who's more that willing to share his observations with his friends (and being a nice guy, St. Jimmy considers us all a long lost friend). Unlike the Nashville set, who blew St. Buffett off...

Pros:
one word: Boatdrinks. Okay, and a few more: the best early stuff by Jimmy Buffett in one easy CD

Cons:
what cons (other than 'Why don't we get drunk and screw', of course)? Are you serious?

Okay, shoot me. My dad listens to Jimmy Buffett all the time and it finally wore off. But, if you do not go out and buy this CD, I will track you down and smack you around. This, simply put, is a wonderful CD that contains almost all of Jimmy Buffett's best early work. And, of course, it has Boat Drinks on it (screams joyously). Jimmy Buffett, probably one of the most under-appreciated musicians of the 20th century, has been around for decades. This CD, 'Songs You Know By Heart: Jimmy Buffett's Greatest Hit(s)', is about 15 years old. The title is also, by the way, very true. These are songs..

The Songs You Know By Heart--The Greatest Jimmy Buffett Album
Review created: 12/04/99
by: kdsudac -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Jimmy's Greatest Hits--only the best of the best

Cons:
Greatest Hits--I want more Jimmy. It shouldv been a double CD

If there is one album that you absolutely need to have it is this one. The Songs You Know By Heart is a compilation of all of Jimmy Buffett's Greatest Hits. Its great for diehard Buffett fans, the occasional listener and even people who have never heard of Jimmy Buffett before. The reason Jimmy Buffet appeals to such an incredibly wide audience is that he spans over many different musical genres. Jimmy blends elements or rock, country and reggae into a great blend. His subject matter, while not profound, is perfect for mellow listening. His topics spread from smoggy days in LA to his days...
