This album is great, it has been in the market for a while, I bought the Ally Mcbeal series and i tought in buying the album, am glad I did, it has very romantic songs, one of my favorites is ''You belong to me'', am sure you will nenjoy is you are a romantic.
I loved the TV series that won many awards. I never missed it. If I had to go out I would tape it. The Vonda Shepherd reditins were excellent and I loved the barry White themed episodes. My husband and I lived 30 miles apart when we were dating and we would watch AlllyMcBeal "together" onn the phone. That is why I bought it.

Shepard Needs to "Find Her Way Back Home" from the 60's Time Warp (CR Writeoff)

Pros: As a singer/composer, Shepard shows her musical chops.
Cons: Sometimes unsuccessful remakes of 50's and 60's oldies.
For some reason, my husband likes to buy me Vonda Shepard CD s. Whether it s because we enjoy watching Ally McBeal, or whether it s because I feel most at home sitting behind a piano, I m not sure. The several Ally McBeal soundtracks I ve received leave me with just one question. If Ally and her co-workers are in their thirties, why does the soundtrack of their lives contain songs I listened to when I was growing up? Listening to Songs From Ally McBeal puts me into a strange sort of time warp. I remember all the songs, but I don t resonate those feelings anymore. My days of dating, proms,...

Piano, Song, and Soul! Go, Vonda!!!

Pros: Upbeat, romantic, and full of soul
Cons: none
I don t know why it took me so long to buy this cd. I love the Ally McBeal show and look forward to laughing every Monday night. The music is refreshingly bouncy, bluesy, or whatever the mood decrees and perfect for the show, whatever the scenario. Vonda Shepherd is the vibrant voice at the piano bar that the McBeal crew dance to every week. I d never seen her before, but started looking forward to hearing her sing just as much as I looked forward to the zany sitcom itself. This cd features the show s theme song as well as a wonderful variety of others---many of which are great oldies but...

More Vonda, Less Calista
Review created: 11/13/00

Pros: Exciting covers of great pop tunes by a singer with an intriguingly edgy voice.
Cons: Couple of weak songs. Shepard's picture should have been on the front, not Calista Flockhart's!
I have only one gripe about this CD, and it's a big one to me. But first I will grudgingly acknowledge the reality of the situation: 1. Although she had had some successes previously, Vonda Shepard's career really soared after she was discovered by David Kelley and given a permanent role on Ally McBeal. 2. This CD was released at the height of the show's popularity, when the words "Ally McBeal" seemed to be on everyone's lips. 3. Probably only a minority of the show's viewers could tell you the name of the nightclub singer who appears near the end of each episode. Now for the gripe: The CD's..

It's from a 'Chick Show', but I enjoy it anyway
Review created: 10/24/00

Pros: Nice songs performed well by Vonda Shepard
Cons: It's light stuff... nothing that excites great emotion
OK, I know it's a "chick show"... with a heavy focus on emotions and personalities rather than "hard facts" and action, and a guiding philosophy that often seems to veer into radical feminism. And, to make sure there aren't accidentally any males actually watching Ally McBeal, its network has placed it opposite Monday Night Football. But despite all that, and despite my maleness (as seen clearly in my profile picture), I have actually watched the show. (Not during football season, of course!) And, while it has lots of silliness (which seems unfortunately to be increasing in later seasons of...
