  Timeless in Seattle
Review created: 02/16/01

Pros:
Romantic, yet predictable in a comforting way. A warm blanket of a movie

Cons:
Needed more Rob Reiner scenes and much more from a young and promising Rosie O'Donnell

I've quit smoking and have spent a few sleepless nights myself recently. Last night, I popped in a timeless classic known as Sleepless in Seattle and enjoyed 105 minutes of pure nostalgia and romance from my favorite person on the big screen, Tom Hanks. The story: Sam Baldwin, played by Tom Hanks, is a widowed father who becomes an overnight Bachelor of the Year Radio Celebrity thanks to the good but overzealous intentions of his eight year old son. His son calls a local radio station and tells the resident psychologist "My Daddy needs a new wife". Hanks reluctantly gets on the phone and...

A Delightful Comedy/Drama With Tom Hanks
Review created: 10/14/01

Pros:
Warm fuzzy delightful emotional movie

Cons:
predictable but well made

Usually if a movie has Tom Hanks or Robin Williams in it, I always expect an entertaining movie. In this case, it's Tom Hanks and definitely not a disappointment. Tom Hanks plays Sam Baldwin, a widower and father of a little boy named Jonah. The movie starts in a Chicago cemetery with him and his child. He briefly explains his feelings on the death of his wife, Maggie to his son and tells him not ask the question "Why." Sam (an architect) needs a change and moves to Seattle to start a new life. The story switches to Baltimore with Annie Reed (played by Meg Ryan) who is engaged to be married...

DO YOU BELIEVE IN FATE? I DO!

Pros:
great acting, believable plot

Cons:
none

Ah, love! It s a beautiful emotion. It s a wonderful state in which to be. It s that wonderful feeling in which you find yourself after being attracted to that certain special someone. It s also the crappiest feeling in the world when suddenly, that certain special someone is ripped from your life forever. You can ask my husband about that. One month short of 25 years, he lost his wife to cancer. Almost one year later, he met me. Two days later, we lost contact and didn t meet again for several months after that. The next time we saw each other, we became determined to make things last. But...

My Heart Won't Let Me Watch Sleepless in Seattle Anymore

Pros:
Love story that will encourage you to believe in the magic of true love

Cons:
If you've lost love in your life, this movie may cause you pain.

In my life there have been cycles of emotion, just like I would think that anyone else would have by daily living. However, in each person's life an action or reaction to certain things can widely vary depending on the history of another person's life. Feeling love, feeling hurt, feeling any emotion can vary between individuals based on another person's past. Such is the case in point with a movie that I have loved for quite some time now, but now find myself unbearably unable to watch anymore -- Sleepless in Seattle. Sleepless in Seattle Sleepless in Seattle is a love story for the 90s. In...

  Soporific in Seattle
Review created: 09/19/01
by: artbyjude -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Lightweight, fluffy fairy tale of modern times, Hanks and Ryan

Cons:
mundane, trivial and soporific. Dated...but cute.

Cure for Insomnia This movie, which once I loved, has not stood the test of time. What once seemed romantic and endearing now seems trivial and mediocre. Where once I could be moved to tears by the happy circumstances, I find I have less sympathy for the shenanigans of an unmarried woman in her thirty somethings, or a little boy, who, when all is said and done, is badly in need of discipline. How has the terrorist act that so brutally tore apart families, lives and a whole nation affected ME? Aside from searching every New York scene in every movie for the glimpse of the Twin towers, I find...
