Silent Hill (Playstation)

This game was the best horror game I've ever played in my life. It left a mark on me, that up to this day I still remember how good the story was. It is very difficult to beat and very challenging. This version led the way for all the other 3 versions that came after it. If you've never played it before I recommend playing it. If this is the first time you heard about it, I suggest you check this out. The puzzles were very confusing back in the day and I only got 2 different endings out of the 5 possibles ( I heard there were 5 ); and not only that but the endings that I got were the BAD and the VERY POOR ( not sure if those were how they called it ).

Silent Hill is just one of those games it can creep anyone out who's playing it. It keeps the player full of suspense while trying to get them to think of a solution to a complex riddle. Personally I rarely get creeped out by games playing through every Resident Evil only 2 and 0 brought me to tense up, and Silent Hill does it perfectly not only with the graphical capabilities of the PSone but the effects.

This game truly deserves every bit of credit it has gotten over the years and is a gem to anyone who can get their hands on it.

This series scares the hell out of me. I remember playing SH1 back on my PSone when it came out. I thought the whole thing was just weird. After playing the rest of the series I found that One is a good starting point. I'm only 1/3 of the way through it again.

A good old-fashioned horror story that is just as much about the psychological as it is about blood, gore and monsters. In fact, the Silent Hill franchise is known for the depth and sometimes hidden psychological mysteries of its games. The graphics of the original are certainly dated by today's standards, but the atmosphere alone will pull you in. It was revolutionary in its day and is still well worth playing, even more so than many modern-day horror games. This is the one that spawned a series, a movie, many spin-offs in other media and a very strong fan following. A must-play!

Silent Hill is probably the best horror game out on the market right now. I know, I know people might say that Resident Evil or Fatal Frame are better but Silent Hill is still above and beyond the rest. The creature design and the creepy atmosphere put it in its own category by itself. Whenever you are walking around in the town of Silent Hill you will always have that feeling that something is there right behind you. Sometimes though the puzzles in the game, which is a lot, can take out the creepiness in the game but it always makes up for it one way or the other. Also the endings can be a bit strange where you have no idea what just happened. But in my opinion just being able to sit and play with the lights out and get really scared during a game is a great experience for me. So get out there and get yourself a copy to see what I mean.

Silent hill is a horror game. And one of the best I think. It got deffient elements from the horror box. The sound that seems to coming from nowhere and then agien seems to be just behind you. The fog that cover all, also monster, the darkness that you only have a littel flash light to find around in. A good story that guides you round and let you see what can happens to scholls, hospital, play grounds and a lot more when some people does something they shuten have done.. Its a game that simply creeps under your skin. Another bonus in this game is that its not just killing and killing, but you also have to think. Work oute codes and stuff like that. And if you think the fun is over when you have won the game one time, think twice. For each time you win the game you can do diffent things that gives new endings and new weapon(think its 5-6 endings or something). So its like more games in one game= dobbelt FUN. I give it 5/5 as the best horrorgame that I ever have tryed.
Its a must owning for a horrorfan.

Silent Hill is a now well known PSX title in the genre of survival horror. The story centers around Harry Mason and his daughter Cheryl; and their trip to their favorite vacation spot the eponymous Silent Hill. The opening scenes highlight a car wreck and Harry losing his daughter after the accident. As Harry begins to explore the now deserted town in search of his daughter he soon realizes something is terribly wrong. With monstrosities at every turn, and a dense fog setting in, you will soon know the horrors that lie in wake of Silent Hill.

For a PSX title the graphics are fairly standard, and have good FMV cutscenes which give more clues into the twisted and dark tale. The controls can tend to be a little clunky, but the interaction and problem solving make up for the lack of a good sense of direction so to speak. The voice acting is similar to an after school special, but all around you can see through the small lacks of luxury to truly enjoy this amazing game. There's a good reason for why Silent Hill put Survival Horror back on the map.

The game features formidable monsters, perplexing puzzles, a realistic 3-D town, and, most of all, an acute sense of foreboding caused by Silent Hill's creative lighting and sound effects. The makers have included four different endings, based on performance throughout the game, so think, be quick on your feet, and hope for the best of all possible outcomes.

I decieded to buy this game because my husband has been looking for a replacement for his broken version. He thinks that this is one of the best games made for the PS1. THe graphics are almost before thie time. Overall, this is a great game for the more mature gamer.

I bought this game after playing silent hill origins. I like origins a lot. I wish I would have had a PSone back then. Now I know what people have been talking about all this time. This game really is scary playing by yourself in the dark. I would recommend this game to anybody that wants to be scared.

I bought this item for my son. He loves the game and says it's quite excellant quality for a playstation 1 game.

This is the singe best game in the Silent Hill series besides Silent hill 3. Number two comes in 3rd place to me but its a really close tie between two and three. Only because the gameplay differs a little from 2-3. #3 has the BEST silent hill soundtracks I have ever heard, for gameplay.

Number 4 was not even supposed to be a silent hill game but I still think its amazing and you should get the whole set as I just did. It ties in with all of the other games as well.

Silent Hill has long since been one of my favorite titles. Nothing can compare to the origional Silent Hill game. It's story is very thought out and detailed, dialong is realistic, and the scary feeling it gives you in the pit of your stomach is great entertainment.

From the chilling music to the nail bitting suspense. This game is awesome. I have played every one in the Silent Hill series. I just love them all.

Best game of the series. From the amazing atmosphere to the fascinating storyline and even to the hidden references to novelists, experimental music groups and horror films, this title has it all. A classic.

If you are squeamish, don't play this game. If you frighten easily, don't play this game. If you want to play one of the best games of all time, go buy it. This is one of those games I rented and immediately went out and bought. I am an adult male and I had to sleep with my bathroom light on. This game is psycologically numbing and creepy. And not a very easy game, either. Any one not giving this game a top rating is either a woos or it was too hard for them. You better pick up a walk through guide. The Brady version had two mistakes, so check their website.

The original silent hill, very classic. Love the game. Anyone that likes the movie should play the game.

We first played this game years ago when it came out thru game rentals. It had us hooked!! We played it as a family together figuring out the clues & puzzles & jumping out of our chairs when something came out from behind a building or the wicked sound effects would change.
The only downfall is some of the puzzles you would need a strategy guide to figure out - otherwise plan on working on them for awhile. Same with 2,3 & 4.
Excellent Graphics for the first time around - they get even better with the next few that came out after.
It must be a best seller cause we cant find this game in our local game store or rent it cause it is always checked out!

I love the fact that this game is in perfect condition. I'm not adjusted to the poor quality graphics yet since I'm used to Silent Hill 2 and 3. I bought this gmae because I'm a fan of the series.

This game is my first love. The first time running into murderous children and the scene after that had me hooked. The game still stands the test of time after all of these years. Yeah, the graphics are outdated, but who cares. These games always had good graphics, but nothing like Final Fantasy caliber. The real heart behind this game is the story, characters, atmosphere, etc.

The game's plot is both simple and complicated. Basically Harry is searching for his daughter Cheryl through the mysterious and foggy town. You follow him on his journey in search for his daughter and the horrors he experiences. The story has many metaphorical and deep aspects of it that I'll let the reader see for themselves. These games don't tell you everything, not trying to explain everything for you so you can interpret things for yourself.

The gameplay is similar to the Resident Evil games in control aspect. Harry isn't a cop or a Marine, thus he is just normal human in a bad situation. The menu system here is great, not crappy like Silent Hill 4.

The music is another defining element of the game. Creppy sounds, haunting songs, and beautifully sung songs.

I bought the Silent Hill game because I saw the movie and liked it and wanted to start the games. The deal went very well and I got the game very fast. The only problem I had with the game was that at the end of the game it started to skip and would not let me beat the game. I wrote to the seller and he said he didn't know what he wanted I wanted him to do about it so refund out of the question I boutght a cd repair kit and fixed it. It works good now. I had a good experience except that by the time I knew something was wrong with the game I had already wrote the seller review and he didn't want to help me out really. Other than that it was a good experience. I enjoy playing the game, but I have not beat it a second time and hopefully it will not mess up again and if it does I still have the cd repair kit to fix it, ow that I have fixed it.
