Side by Side by Sondheim - Original Cast (CD 1990)

This was my first Sondheim "show". My sister took me to see it performed in Olney, Maryland when I was still in high school. His lyrics have stayed with me until now and I have come to own many full soundtracks including Company and A Little Night Music. In this caberet style recording, three actors do a wide variety of Sondheim numbers both together and singly, many of which are seldom heard. There are no bells and whistles, just good singing. A great re-introduction to Sondheim or a great first CD for someone who likes witty and clever writing sung well.
