The older musicals are not available in any rental store. When you need to watch one to prep for a audition in a production it is next to impossible to find the original on DVD. This ebay site has all of the classics and they are the original production. It is the best way to get a flavor for the character before your audition. The fact they they are remastered and new is the gravy! Finding them on EBAY has helped me to get hired for many parts and brings a substantial extra income into our household. ONCE MORE, THANK GOD FOR EBAY!!
This DVD is awesome.I bought it since I saw it on TCM years ago,and wanted to watch the whole stuff, because I couldn't find a replay in Europe. The most interesting were musiccal inserts, they are loveful. That's why I bought this item.Recommend for everyone who love oldies.

Pros: great look
Cons: not too PC
A musical served up the old-fashioned way: big, colorful, tuneful, and with big stars. This musical has such beautiful,well-known showtunes such as "Ol' Man River", "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man" and "Make Believe", with classic MGM stars such as soprano Kathryn Grayson and the always gorgeous Ava Gardner to sing them. This movie revolves around life on a Mississippi showboat, run by a couple with a daughter named Magnolia (Grayson) who starts romancing the worldly Gaylord Ravenal (Howard Keel). There are tough issues to deal with: slavery, gambling...gambling, distrust...and touching moments ...
