This is a very useful book if you have vintage linens you want to incorporate into sewing projects. I have some old lace doilies, scraps, and embroidered pieces that I've been saving but didn't know what to do with. This book is my answer. I haven't seen another one like it. Illustrations are good and directions are helpful.
I make crafts from vintage linens for craft fairs nd this book is great and gives me some nw ideas to try. I Love this type of book. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST I've seen.
My love of sewing and old handwork items is the reason for my purchase. After the book arrived, I immediately dug through my stash of old things made by older members of my family. The book has certain sections on how to use item that are worn (or even have tears) and create a beautiful 'new' piece of handwork. Doing this handwork helped me remember sewing with my mother and grandmother at an early age.
I cannot really compare this book to any others because I don't have any others. I can readily see that Ms. McNesby has a deep love and understanding of the subject matter. I just wish I had her inovativeness and courage to cut one item into so many pieces and make another one.
I am enjoying reading 'Vintage Linens' so much. Seems like every time I read the book, I see something I missed the last time.
My money was not wasted...I'm happy I bought the book. It's now in my sewing studio with my quilting books.
