Pros:
John Goodman steals the show

Cons:
Hokey murderer, revealed too soon

A surprisingly gaunt Al Pacino starred in this enjoyable movie. I hadn't seen him since the early '80s and he appeared a lot older and thinner than I remembered. Al is one of the guys who can play both cops and robbers, and he did a creditable job, but John Goodman's performance as Al's partner is the real gem in this production! He provides some badly needed comic relief to the somewhat sombre performance of the lead. The real crime is that we knew who the murderer was too soon. Then, we had to wait until Al finally found out. Nonetheless, I still give it four stars as a fine thriller that...

Pros:
Al Pacino. Ellen Barkin. The sexual energy mixing with an element of danger.

Cons:
None for this one.

Do you remember when we met That's the day I knew you were my pet I want to tell you how much I love you Countless films rely on the premise of nice girl falls in love with a boy called trouble . Director Harold Becker, in his 1989 release, Sea Of Love, flips this all around. In a formula that was later used in such films as Basic Instinct, Sea of Love sees good cop fall in love with bad girl possibly really bad girl . It s a concept that works to perfection in Sea Of Love, thanks to a tight, yet simple, storyline, and some outstanding acting. It also succeeds due to our base understanding of.

Pros:
Al Pacino in some genuinely romantic scenes after he comes across as a teenage prankster singleton in the beginning

Cons:
Not one of those action-packed Pacino movies if that is what you might have in mind

Frank is a police officer. His wife has walked on him, but he can't get over it. He calls her three in the morning, "Hey, I think I got appendicitis." She hangs up. End of story. How about an Al Pacino movie for a lazy Friday summer evening? Like all Al Pacino movies I have watched to date, this too has plenty of sub-text, only this one has a casual flair to it that most others don't even as we witness one murder after another after another, while this Manhattan detective goes around sniffing. Frank ends up with a woman alright. But before that plenty happens. Is this a formula film? Maybe....

Pros:
Al Pacino. Great acting. Ellen Barkin never looked better. Suspense-thriller. Well-paced.

Cons:
none.

Sea of Love stars Al Pacino, one of the greatest actors of all time, in the role of a veteran homicide detective, Frank Keller, John Goodman who plays his partner, Sherman, and Ellen Barkin who plays a woman named Helen, who answers a personal ad. Sea of Love is a suspenseful thriller that takes place in New York City and many of the scenes are shot at night which further adds to the film's allure. In the first scene we see a brutish, crazed man brandishing a gun while he is sitting on top of a naked man who's laying face down in bed, and says to his victim, "Show me how you did it." You will.

Pros:
suspenseful, intriguing

Cons:
none

Al Pacino is one of the greatest actors of all time! Whether he's busting scumbags or playing one in the mafia, he is a very talent actor. In 'Sea of Love', he is in search of a killer. Al Pacino gives an amazing performance as Frank Keller in this highly erotic-charged thriller. He plays a veteran NYC police detective who is a workaholic living on the edge. He joins with Sherman Toughey (John Goodman) to track down a bizarre serial killer. Pacino comes in contact with a beautiful suspect. Keller is convinced of her innocence and enters into a passionate affair with her, despite evidence...
