Without a doubt, this movie's not only a Christmas classic, but a classic movie for the entire! Bill Murray brings home the reality to life of living your life to considering and benefiting others...not only ourselves! Pulling from the classic tale of Charles Dickens, this movie is an anytime reminder to avoid the spooky encounters of a recurring, haunting past filled with bad decisions and begin anew...today...and do something to bless mankind! Without a question, this movie is 5 stars in rating, and 5 stars for reality!
so glad I got it again,, thanks,, Love it,, I haven't watched it in so long, so I am go glad I got it again,, really enjoyed it ,, over and over again,,
When I was a youngster growing up in St. Louis I was a strange child. I liked listening to K<OX radio (that is a news/talk station). I also enjoy (and still do) nostalgic radio programs.
One evening during the Christmas season KMOX played the rebroadcast of the Campbell's Playhouse "A Christmas Carol". This was the first time I ever heard the story and I loved it. I loved it so much that I got the book and read it - this one one of a very few books I ever read as a child.
I have seen other versions of the Christmas Carol but I never liked any of them more than the old Campbell's Playhouse I heard on the radio. Then the movie "Scrooged" came out with Bill Murry.
I enjoyed Murry's work on SNL so I decided to watch the movie and fell in love with it.
In fact for many years when I was single I would watch it every Christmas Eve leading up to midnight to ring in Christmas.
Frank Cross (Bill Murry) is a lot like me, I am a bit rude at times towards people and insensitive - in fact there are scene where Frank makes a wisecrack to the musicians who are playing on the streets of New York sounds just like something I would say.
The film, 19 years later, is still a great film. Each time I see it I find something I missed in it before.
Each time I watch it I am reminded I can be a better person and it is never too late to change!
It is very heartwarming and a story that brings tears to my eyes each year - I especially love the closing song - bring a little love in your heart.
This film is great to watch, but I would not let younger children see it as some of it might frighten them.
Funny, Touching and to the point. Great performances and the third ghost - WOW!!! How many ghosts were in Dickens the Christmas Carol - Don't forget there were FOUR!
This has to be one of my most favorite christmas films. The cast, especially Bill Murray do a wonderful job. It tells the story of the Christmas Carol in a new and humorus way. This film is good for children especially if you discuss the concepts of the show afterward so they understand the meaning and spirit of christmas.
I have always enjoyed this film. As a fan of Bill?s he did a great job with his role as Frank Cross.
Rest of the cast, John Forsythe, Carol Kane, Robert Mitchum also did wonderful jobs with their roles. Forsythe was a riot to me as the ghost of Bill's old boss/friend. Nice to see three of Bill's brothers in the film.
DVD needed more extras though. Nothing except trailer for the film.
Course, starts out funny. Lee Majors "Eat This". Got off to the right start & stayed there. "Cajun Christmas" with the alligator following the boat.
