Very portable, fits comfortably around the neck, recharges via USB port, lots of memory, and very durable. It is also easy to use and has an FM radio. We love it!

What I like about it is that is not so expensive and it works just as good as an expensive one. This was the second one I bought because the first one my son dropped in the lake when he went fishing, so he needed a new one since we liked the first one we wanted to stick with the same kind.

I love the fact that it is small. Because it is basically a jump drive with music functions, it is much easier to download music than a regular MP# player. No cords to drag around. I liked it so much I bought one for my husband and 3 more as Christmas gifts!

I am SOLD on THIS player

I personally did alot of research on the type of MP3 I wanted. I wanted JUST a MP3 player with NO pictures or NO videos, just music baby. I wanted one with a rechargeable battery, memory card expansion, LED screen text, sleek and small, simple drag and drop to import songs (I hate I-TUNES). I have my player for two weeks and LOVE IT. I also recently bought an 8gb Sandisk micro card, so now I have 8gb external and 2gb internal for a whopping 10GB MP3 player. The player and card cost me less than $100 on Ebay. The battery power lasts a full 9 hours at work and probably a little longer. I come home a recharge it overnight and its good for the next day. The sound volume is better than expected, the loudest volume setting is actually too loud for your ears. The overall sound is crisp with no static. The radio frequency is acceptable for the more powerful radio stations, weaker stations are not as clear.

PS
I recommend you upgrade the firmware from the Sandisk website after purchasing from an Ebay seller. If you follow the firmware update correctly, you will be as satisfied as I am. The community forum on the Sandisk website is GREAT, you can find alot of help there for examples I found how to upgrade the firmware, add memory card configuration, debrick the unit (I thought it was completely dead, until I read the debrick forum)and resort the shuffle playlist.

Great Player but tiny and flimsy controls

I bought the Sansa Player over a month ago and was immediately impressed with its small size, light weight and sleek look. You can store music, record, and listen to FM radio. My only complaint is that the buttons seem very flimsy and cheaply made. Overall, I'd recommend this mp3 player.

  Litte piece, big action

I liked the thought of having a jump drive with an mp3 built into it. What I got was just that, an mp3 playing jump drive. Its a little annoying that it won't play while charging, and the reception on the FM radio isn't always the best...

But, the sound quality is great, the price is right, and the display is very intuitive. It can be used very easily as both mp3 and mass storage device.

  Love it!

My husband gave me one and I used until it got stolen. So I bought myself a new one with an extra giga for storage. I know Ipods are all the rage and all, but I love this little thing so much! It doesn't erase songs from your computer like the ipod does if u press the wrong button. It's easy to navigate songs whether you want the song title, the artist, or the type of music.

Great buy.

I am very satisfied with this mp3 player. This is the second one that i have bought. I was looking for a simple and cheap mp3 player that looked stylish and professional and I think the Sansa express is the one. Even its memory capacity can be expanded which is very good if i plan on adding audiobooks.

Small, Inexpensive, Easy to use MP3 Player
Review created: 04/19/08

If you are looking for a small MP3 player that is relatively inexpensive and easy to use, this may be the one for you. I have purchased 4 of these for myself and other members of my family. I found that they work well with Windows Media Player. You can build playlists with Media Player, then sync them to the device. It also has a function that allows you to build one "favorites" list right on player.
The built in battery is nice and lasts a few weeks for my use (about 1 hour per day at the gym). Two belong to younger children, 8 & 12, and they have no issues using the player, although someone else loads them. The player hooks easily to the computer with the built-in USB connection. It charges when hooked to the computer. I have found that the Griffin Power Duo Universal Car & Wall Charger works well when charging them in the car or with household current (I purchased a set on ebay that said they worked with the Sansa Express, but they did not, in fact they caused it to lock up).
If you go to the SanDisk web site and view the forums, there is much written about problems with this unit, but some of the problems noted in older posts seem to have been fixed with firmware updates. I recommend that one of the first things you do is install and run the firmware update utility found at their web site. The only thing I don't like is that every time they are turned off and then back on, they rescan the song titles and re-"randomize" the order the songs are played if you have the shuffle turned on. The result seems to favor certain songs over others, so that when you only use it for short periods of time (1 hour or so) the same songs seem to be played. None have locked up on me (other than due to the chargers mentioned) and all had the firmware updated. Pluses:
- Built in battery
- Expandable by adding memory
- FM Radio with presets to save stations
- Small and portable - Easy to use controls/menus
- Easy to read display - built in USB, no cables needed
Minuses:
- re-scans the song database at every power on
- random shuffle seems to favor certain songs
- earphones that come with the unit are somewhat large and don't stay in well.
- need to buy a charger if you plan to be away from a computer for a while

SMALL BUT POWERFUL, EASY TO USE, LIGHTWEIGHT
Review created: 04/05/08

My husband wanted a small MP3 player to use while skiing. He has it plug directly to his ski helmet. He loves this one...while it is very lightweight, a few ounces, it disappears in a pocket easily. I loved it so much, I purchased a second one to work out with. I purchased a neck lanyard, and do not even notice it around my neck when I work out.

It plugs in directly into the computer and it is simple to 'drag' and put songs into it. I also figured out that you can delete songs from it too, though other reviews said you couldn't. The unit did freeze once, but rebooted without a problem.

The sound is great...I use Sony earbuds, which are much better than the pair that come with it, but those are acceptable too. The little panel takes getting use to to navigate, but it is user friendly.

For the price, approx. $50, I would definitely recommend this to others.

San disk got it right with this little guy.About the size of a pack of wrigleys gum & has as much storage as the I Pod shuffle & has more features. The F M Radio picks up stations I can't get at home or in a vehicle, great range. This unit plugs direct into a P.C., no need for a cable & was super easy to down load from my music library. The only thing I did not like was the size of the ear buds, they are quite large. With the money I saved buying this vs. the BIG NAME,I can afford several pairs of smaller buds!!

I bought the SanDisk Express 2GB MP3 player. I found that it was very easy to use. No complicated drivers to download just plugged it in to my computer & Windows XP reconginzed it. I add my songs to the sync list and put them onto the player in about 5 minutes.

  Sansa Express

I purchased this unit to replace one that I already owned, the SE is a good player but driving over it seems to affect it's function!
This player is not for everyone, but it's pretty much everything I wanted in a player, I don't need 40 gigs of storage. I want something small, cheap and simple to use and the SE fills the bill. It's the size of a jump drive, has very simple controls, uses Windows Media Player to manage music, is easily expandable with a micro SD card, can be used as a jump drive plus it has a FM tuner that you can listen to or record from and a voice recorder all in a tiny package that can be purchased for under fifty bucks! Some people don't think it is loud enough, I have'nt had any problems, the ear buds that come with it leave a bit to be desired, most ear buds don't fit well in my wierd ears, so no problem here.
Over all, I really like it and I have purchased another one.

  Perfect Portable MP3 Player
Review created: 02/23/08

Easy to use with the USB connection. The 2gb size is good for a loading a wide variety of music (1gb is a little small). The rechargeable battery is great. Works well with Windows Media Player. I have one for myself and just purchased 2 others for my niece and nephew, $29.99 at office max, must be phasing them out to be selling them so low.

lots of bang for the buck, packed with features

The is one excellent product! Plays pretty much all of the digital audio files out there, includes an FM radio and voice recorder! Very compact, and built in USB plug so there are no extra cables to carry! Therefore, it makes a great thumb drive as well! Plus, it is expandable with microSD cards. This may be the last MP3 player you will ever buy. The only weakness of this product is the mono screen, which means it can't display pics or vids, but it is my view that you don't want that functionality on a device that is this small anyway. Just plays music, and lets you find your files.

I love everything about this mp3 player. No cables are needed since it has a USB connection on it. Rechargeable battery is great. Great sound and plenty of options. The only downfall is the inability to make playlists, other than that it is fantastic.

Reasonable Price, Very Dependable Gym Buddy
Review created: 06/10/08
by: Hairballz -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Tiny, portable, intuitive controls, TERRIFIC battery life, easy to use and charge.

Cons:
None - for the price it's a treasure.

This is the second Sansa MP3 player I have owned. Purchased it after my original one, which was several years old at the time, just crapped out and suddenly quit in the middle of a gym session! I wasn't looking to spend a lot of money on an MP3 player, but still wanted some basics - display the song being played, easy controls, etc. I purchased this at my local Staples store for $35. Some of the pros of this player: It's compact size is very nice! It's literally about the size of a pack of gum, so it's easy to use at the gym (with separately purchased sport band). I only have dialup internet..

Pros:
Oh, there's too much.

Cons:
Absolutely NONE!

Okay, this thing is totally awesome. I got this gadget for Christmas, and I LOVE it! This, to me, is way more than an mp3 player. The only thing it doesn't have is a beverage dispenser. Here's what it's got: -Voice recorder. The quality on this is excellent. It's like one of those $35 digital recorders, but built into it. I play guitar, and need to record a lot, so this is perfect for me! You also don't have to do any special saving or whatnot on the computer to get it onto the express; it just saves directly onto the player-poof! -Radio. Okay, this is cool. The radio on this can track, like,.
