  Awesome! The best phone ever!

I have had a number of phones over the years, and I would have to say that this is by far the best one yet. Has all the features you could want out of a portable device. Aside from the obvious phone aspect, the large screen on the back side gives you adequate visual readiness for the various internet, TV, MP3 features that Sprint has available for you. You will never be bored with this phone!

Cool phone with definite pros and cons
Review created: 12/06/07
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This was a real unique phone for me as I usually use the flip (clam Shell) phones. This was sent to me through the insurance company since my old one broke so I was forced to give it a try.

Pros:

Since the phone has 2 sides it definitely takes some getting used to. I love Samsung phones since they are always very easy to hear and it is super light. The slim design is awesome since it fits into your pocket easily and you almost forget it's there. It is unique as you type, text, and look at the initial calls on the little screen, but when you want to see the rest of the text, then you hit the little Flip button and then you flip over the phone to the larger screen.

The other side is a larger screen and that uses a touch screen. It is easy to scroll through all of the messages that you have and it is much larger so you can read it all at once. The mp3 player is also very cool and I think you can have about 12 songs on it. You just download them from your computer and it is really easy, so that is pretty cool.

Another very cool feature is the case. It is a slim case that you actually plug the phone into...and it has ANOTHER battery! The phone itself will show it charging with the case. The case is really handy since Samsung keeps changing their chargers so you have to buy a new one with every phone. :(

Cons:

The main con to this phone is the constant flipping. You have to keep flipping it over to either see the screen, or if you forget which side you last used, you have to flip it over to see it.

The second Con is the touch screen. It is ok at first, but it is very sensitive and there is only a little place that you can scroll up and down before you hit the Cancel option. For example: if you are trying to delete past text messages one by one, you have to scroll up one by one and click on each one. But let's say that you have already checked 50 to delete, and then your finger slips and accidently goes over the cancel button....GONE! You lose them all. I now have to do it by 5's to make sure that I don't lose them again and again. It takes a little getting used to, but more often than not it is pretty frustrating.

Summary:

All in all, it is a good phone. I'm a little nervous about getting the screen scratched since it is so large, but so far so good! The touch pad will take some getting used to, and also the flipping back and forth. I even ended up talking on the wrong side once. ;) It's popular when people see it, it's slim and slick, and you can hear people really well. Check it out, and if this helps then definitely let me know!

Thanks for reading and enjoy your phone!!

  M620 Upstage
Review created: 07/05/08
by:

My son wanted this phone and in theory it is a great idea to have the flip option on the MP3 player one side and phone on other side however after playing with it and tryin to set it up I found it very difficult on the main screen and the navigation button totally too sensitive. Great look but it needs some work

  Upstage Very Very Nice
Review created: 07/05/08

If you are thinking about buying the Upstage from Samsung, I will give you a few reasons why it wouldn't be a bad choice. If you like listening to a MP3 player then this phone is meant for you. I love it because I can work out and listen to my music without missing a text message or important phone call. The prices for the phone is usually pretty reasonable. I got mine for 120 usually 100 to 160 is good price range.
Negatives--- small text screen, not very good at texting, low quality picture quality from camera
positives----sweet MP3 player, bluetooth allows to receive files like pictures and music, and great battery life.. up to 6.3 or more hours of talk time.. thats alot
overall i give it a 4.8 out of 5

  Horrible Salesman and Product
Review created: 06/10/08
by:
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

There is absolutely nothing I like about this phone. As soon as I opened it I tried turning it on and it would not turn on. Then I tried to charge it and it would NOT charge. I had it checked by the manufacturer because they stated it was still under warranty and they would fix/replace it. But, when they checked it out it had intentional liquid damage. The person that sold me the phone knew the phone was NOT working when he sold it. The ad stated 'no returns'. It also stated 'nice condition' and 'good phone'. That was complete misrepresentation. I paid over $100.00 for this phone and I paid it for nothing. When trying to communicate with the salesperson all he did was curse and he was completely unreasonable. I have filed a complaint with the United States Postal Service for fraudently mailing me a phone that was misrepresented. I hope to someday get a refund. Due to this 'sale' I don't know if I can ever buy anything through Ebay again. I know that it's not Ebay's fault or PayPals fault but I feel I should somehow get a refund for the product due to the complete falsification of the product. The person who sold the phone has no remorse for selling this broken phone.

  Samsung Upstage from Sprint
Review created: 06/09/08
by:

I fell in love with this phone the first time I saw it. After a year of hoping and waiting, my old phone finally croaked. The Upstage is a versatile and attractive phone for the uprising generations. Many feel that the touch sensitive pad and the directional menu button are difficult to use, and I could see why; however, if you are interested in a good piece of technology to play around and experiment with, this is the phone to use.

It's flip feature is what caught me. Although you are limited to the capabilities of the keypad side, the touch pad side is all too versatile with everything from internet access, to content, to music, and everything else.

The music player is my final highlight. Buy a microSD memory card (2 GB $19.99 radioshack) and over 500 songs from your computer are at your disposal. The sound quality is wonderful, and I have no complaints whatsoever about it.

Its a great phone and it is kinda hard to figure out but it becomes easier as you use it. Music capacity is limited to the size of the SD card you have. I recommend it for users that have an ipod or zune and just want your favorite tunes in your phone. I bought as a gift and my bro loves it.

You use a phone to call people right? :-p
Review created: 05/25/08
by:

If it was based off of the price I paid for it, I'd rate it as excellent. However, anything close to retail price makes it a little sketchy. The phone technically does everything I need it to do. The ease of use takes some getting used to. So far I've found that the T9 texting feature isn't as cooperative as other phones I've used/seen. I do find myself "flipping" the phone quite a bit, but that's a really minor complaint. I've heard that the battery life isn't very strong, but so far I haven't had any problems. I keep the battery wallet for extra talking time in the car just in case. I'm glad I switched to it so far.

I enjoy this phone and it's features. It does take some getting used to, utilizing both sides of the phone. Occasionally you have to flip back and forth to perform certain functions, or enter some data. Other than that the phone is small in size, yet durable and easy to use.

  samsung upstage...cons outweigh benefits
Review created: 02/19/08

First off, Samsung did make a sturdy phone. That said, the phone gets frustrating after limited use. The internal battery lasts for about a day much less if you use the music player. The external battery that comes with the phone, while a good idea, isn't very ergonomic. If you use the external battery with the phone then you will have a flap dangling in front of you. If you just like having. New phone or a replacement phone then its an ok phone if you can find it cheap. Otherwise save your money.

  The M620
Review created: 12/11/07
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The m620 is slim, flashy, and reliable. What gives this product a good rating? Besides the new "flip" design, video ringtones, and watching up to date information on sports, traffic, and weather I guess there is not much this phone does not have. Battery life is great as long as you have the second battery hooked on (comes with phone). It's a bit difficult to get used to at first, but the simplicity of the phone is there. I would have gave this phone an excellent rating if it was not for the fact that Sprint is starting to lock down on the whole ringtone policy. No you cannot upload a song from your pc and set it as a ringtone, you have to buy it. On the other hand it does come with a small memory card, and of course the built in music player. if you are one of Sprint's reps, the phone is the best thing ever, but if you are on the everyday users side, the lack of power they give you with ringtones holds this phone from being a must have.

Phone and MP3 player Hybrid great for media and battery
Review created: 11/07/07

I have had this phone about a month. It replaced my LG MM-535 which was great for media junkies with its TV and music capabilities. This Samsung Upstage is nice in size as it is thinner but just longer than a credit card. The phone has two screens, one on each side, that give it two personalities. It works great with Sprint's TV services and fair with web applications. The music player is great with the micro SD expansion slot. You will probably will want to get a larger than the included 64 MB card. A 4 GB card is now very affordable for audiophiles. The touch control box on the MP3 player side of the phone is a little tough to get used to but once adjusted for sensitivity work well. The small screen on the phone side does not display full menu functions and only displays a couple lines of text. If you text a lot this might not be the phone for you. The constant flipping from one screen to the next takes some getting used to as well. You must flip to the larger MP3 player screen in order to use many of the phones features. The included case and extended battery give the phone some protection and allows for extended talk time and use. I talk about 2 hours a day and I have gone up to 3 days before recharging. The audio quality is similar to that of a typical MP3 unit. In the north Texas area calls have been clear for the most part. The radiation rating is also fair which decreases the likelihood of getting cancer due to cell phone use. Go to Cnet in order to get other radiation ratings on this cell phone and others. The included software is simple and self explanatory. I have the Philips bluetooth headphones for the Upstage that allow me to listen to music or engage in a phone call which is nice. Overall I like this phone because of its small size and long battery life to accompany its media functions.
