This is the 6-series or 6th generation monitor that came out in spring of 2007. I love the samsung line of monitors which seem to get better and better despite the fact they are now built in China compared to Korea 6 years ago. The low dpi made the text quality even better than previous generation with even brighter screen contrast. Excellent in full daylight.
I purchased it for office use in a fairly lit room with two windows that allow fair amount of sunlight. It does have a 2000:1 contrast ratio which was plenty for a 19' screen. The text were sharp which was the reason I purchased this over others. The price is very reasonable for what its worth. A decent build quality. Onscreen menu control is simple with just enough functions to set the video properties. I did however love the auto image adjust which from a push of a button allowed correction or horizontal and vertical sizing to fit the screen perfectly. Very light weight and good ergonomics.
Video Gamers: With the 4ms I had no shutter or skips and played fairly smooth at highspeed actions Plays Dvd in 16:9 format and again flawless in the video flow depart with the 4ms response time.
I give it a 9 out of 10 considering its price. Can't go with samsung!!!

Was not sure about which monitor to get but after reading reviews and checking on some brands at bestbuy and circuit city I found the Samsung to be pretty good for the money. Sure there are better monitors out there but to spend another 100 - 150 dollars... this monitor has a great picture for movies and playing games. I bought another Samsung 22" cause of the good performance now happy with both.
I actually own three of these. I got the first one and liked it so much I got two more for my other pc. There is a difference in display colors between digital and analog but that is expected. I can run Catia, do Graphic Design work, or play a video game with no issues with the image. I had two dead pixels on one of the monitors I received and I contacted Samsung and their policy was seven dead for a return but because of the location they sent out a new monitor and covered the shipping. Excellent customer service for an excellent product that they stand behind.
I really like this monitor. It has some very nice features, my favorite being the "MagicBright" feature. The screen has incredible resolution as well as the fastest response time I saw in monitors of its class. I would recommend this monitor, especially to those buying on eBay from a good seller.
Its the perfect size of a monitor as far as I am concerned. Way better then my big old bulky analog one!! Its a digital or analog monitor. I use it digitally with a dmi cable. Its a huge screen and nice and wide. Things I had troubles seeing before are no problem now. Its nice and clear, takes up little space, and screens that before didnt show the WHOLE screen, do now!! I would recommend this monitor to anyone!!
GREAT QUALTY ON MERCHANDISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I upgraded from a 17in. Samsung monitor to this 19in. Samsung monitor. I like the size of this new monitor, but I am dissapointed with the picture quality. My old monitors picture quality was very clear, this one however seems a bit fuzzy, and I have tried adjusting the colors, but it has not improved. No other issues with this product.
After reviewing the condition of the monitor further I notice quite few scratches along the black glossy frame. This unit INMO is not brand new as stated on the auction.
Let me say to start that the Monitor is the best I've had for displaying Images. Vibrant colors and fantastic contrast. It is a 16:10 aspect ratio (or something like that meaning it is widescreen)
I'm running an AMD M7VIZ MOBO with no graphics card so it is using the VIA/S3G Unichrome IGP video built into the MOBO. With that video, the available resolutions are 1280/768, 1152/964, 1024/768 and 800/600 in the widescreen mode and in narrow mode (don't know the terminology for that but narrow aspect ratio mode) the resolutions are 1024/768 and 800/600.
In widescreen mode the only resolution that keeps graphics proportional (not short and fat) is the 1280/768. Graphics are beautiful in that mode but the text appears to have been printed by a printer that is running out of ink. Don't know any other way to describe it. I've adjusted the DPI in advanced mode to get it so that it is legible but at times I have to increase the text size to view it without getting a headache (Ctrl +)
With any of the other resolution settings, the text is perfect (crisp) but the graphics of course are not displayed with the correct aspect ratio leaving everything distorted (short and fat).
I have ordered a low-end graphic accelerator card in hopes that resolutions available on that card will correct this problem.
Truly, with the text display problem notwithstanding, this is a fantastic monitor for the price.
I bought it because of others rating it highly and rightly so. I have it connected to my Mac Pro laptop when I use it as a desktop. It is on the same desk as a LG lcd monitor so I can compare them very well. The Samsung color is slightly less intense than the LG - but that could be due to my adjstments.
Got what I wanted and on time for christmas. The monitor works great and my son is having a good time with it. It has a real good picture and is fast. Thanks again.
I love the polished look of the monitor, it gives for a professional atmosphere. It was, also, incredibly easy to install. I hade a regular monitor before and was not sure if the different screen format, widescreen, would be easy to adjust, but it adjusts its-self. The picture is beautiful and I highly recommend this item.
I really have no complanets about this monitor, it does everything I thought it would do. The display and resulution is excellent. I looked at many different monitor brands before choosing this one. I chose this monitor mainly because of its clear display with the matted finish. I chose a matted finish over a glass one because of the glare that comes from a glass finish, this Samsung monitor has a display that is very close to that of a glass finish monitor. It also adjusts up - somthing that many flat screens do not do.
This monitor replaced a bulky old CRT. I did a lot of research including checking out competing monitors in stores and decided this was one of the best, if not the best, in its general price range. Then I found it on eBay for the best price of the three I had narrowed it down to. I bought it during the $20 rebate period so I will have paid just over $200 for it when that rebate is returned from Samsung. In any case, it is a big improvement generally over my old CRT in all areas except perhaps color. In that area the CRT at least held its own. But that is the tradeoff you have to make. The Samsung has an excellent image, much better detailing than the CRT, a bigger picture and takes up far less desk space. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my new LCD monitor. And the I think the size is just about perfect. I watch downloaded movies, or movies from DVDs, on mine all the time and it works very well for that use.
This was a plug in and go item. I had to make NO adjustments. I put the instructions back in the original box and had not had to use them since. Unit has a very narrow border around it, I can't use my post-its very well. Other than that, fine item. Simplisity at its best.
The picture is very clear on this monitor, and the wide screen allows you to see more on webpages. It does take some adjusting to get the monitor to the correct resolution. This monitor was worth every penny! Samsung is one of the best brands in computer monitors as well. My brother, who is a computer techie, was very impressed with it and plans to get one soon for himself.
High contrast for some good editing and graphic design work, I always know I'm seeing more than any other screen or format will ever see. Lots of great controls, many that don't come standard even nowadays, such as one-touch presets that allow you to switch quickly to alternate color/luminance settings.
This monitor is professional grade equipment. While the base is adjustable to viewing angle, the picture remains very crisp even at a considerable angle from "dead on." Features and adjustments are abundant and easy to access.
Reasons for purchase: This monitor offers the quality required for professional graphics editing and rendering. No flicker or jitter even for fast animations and no eye-strain.
Considerations: While this monitor will work fine in analog mode, it will require a digital graphics card to take full advantage of it's features.
So far, I have purchased five of these 19" and two of the 22" monitors for my small business.
Image and video quality is superb, but I am most impressed with text quality. I do a lot of work with small text and numbers in spreadsheets. Other flat panels I own have left me longing for the days of crisp text on a CRT. But this Samsung out performs the best CRTs I ever owned.
Know that this monitor is just that, a computer monitor. You can't connect it to a DVD player or component video source. It has just two inputs, analog VGA (15 pin) or Digital DVI-D. So it is for computers only.
If that's what you need, you simply can find a better monitor for anything close to this price.
