Good story line but could have been played out better. The acting was just okay and the story line dragged so much in some places. I liked the story line but they could have done so much more with it. The vampire I didn't like at all. Usually I really like Stephan King movies but this one is probably my least favorite (but I love the remake of this, I have another review on that too!). I just think they could have done more with this and for some reason didn't at the time. I do like the remake of this movie though.
This movie scared me when I was a child so much. I didnt remember the name untill recently I found it on ebay and bought it . The scene with the kid scratching at the window is very freaky.
This movie scared the hell out of me back when I was a kid & it came out! To see vampires who were "my age" was truly terrifying. One of my all-time favorites. Two things: This movie hasn't been "cleaned up"; there are small "white-spots" that pop up on the screen now & then. Also, I think the movie isn't as lauded as much as it should be, it is as good a horror movie from the 70's as any of them.
Classic King! This one scared the heck out of me when I was younger, it still does to this day! Now it's scaring the teenagers I'm raising that have been so de-sensitized from all the stuff they see on TV. It's so believable, it makes you wonder if there really may be a town somewhere in the U.S. that might be home to Vampires. I will never answer the scratching at my window or door again!
Very happy with the movie. I watched this before when I was a kid and really got into it. I can't believe that I found it on ebay and on a DVD copy. Wow, Thanks a lot this is a very good movie and the copy is superb.

When David Soul returns to the small New England town of Jerusalem's Lot, people begin dropping like flies. Even in the movie you'll notice from the beginning how the streets are quiet. This, to me, was the best movie from a book by Stephen King. It really scared me when I read the novel and then it didn't disappoint me when I saw the movie. The film centers around a suave antiques dealer (James Mason) who's knowledge goes way beyond bric-a-brac. Mason's partner is a vampire (no mention of him being "Dracula")....who wants to drain the whole town of blood before moving on. The spookiest sight is that old house. When the kid, Lance Kerwin, is walking in it by himself I got huge goosebumps! The make-up job on the vampire was enough to give me nightmares. Bonnie Belinda plays Soul's love interest, who gets captured near the end and never makes it out. That makes for a second movie, which never did catch on. Well, it's hard to keep the undead down,....but a good fire might!. Last scene is of Soul and Kerwin leaving town on their own....last ones left. I watch this every Halloween night!
I like this movie cause it was the first movie to really get my goat. I watch it when I was a child and it got me started on watching vampire movies. This is a GREAT movie to watch with friends...
