Sailor Moon R The Movie - The Promise of the Rose (2000, DVD)

I'm not so sure if someone who hasn't seen Sailor Moon before will like this movie (since it would probably be confusing), but you're a Sailor Moon fan then this is definately for you! This movie, in my opinion, seems more like an hour long episode or TV special, but that doesn't mean that it isn't good! But I love Sailor Moon and it's my favorite anime, so that my not apply to every Sailor Moon fan. This movie focuses mostly on Mamoru (Darien), and features the one time character Fiore! There's also a special ending song called Moonlight Revenge!

This cover of this DVD is really pretty. However, I have never seen this image before and I assume that it is two or more images put together for this DVD cover. It is completely different from the Japanese DVD and laser disc cover. This Region 1 DVD has an image of Princess Serenity on it smiling and looking over her shoulder. The background is light pink, and at the bottom of the cover features darker, red roses. There is a border of gold foil (I think that's what it is. I looks like the same material on the ADV boxsets). Red foil is used for the five rose petals (which look like they were blown by a light breeze). The Japanese laser disc cover had a picture of Sailor Moon with the Silver Crystal, the Inner Senshi (with Sailor Chibi Moon), Tuxedo Kamen, and Fiore. The background of the laser disc cover was white, while the Region 2 DVD cover had a dark red rose covering the top half and a dark blue background on the bottom half (probably outer space).

I keep hearing about a reversible cover, but the DVD has a white case and only a one-sided cover.

This movie was not remastered, but is definately not as bad as the first season of the TV series.

This Sailor Moon movie is the one that I see people are willing to pay the most for, so hurry up and get the DVD version as soon as you can before it's value goes up even more (like the golden star locket)!
