Well, as we all know Supertramp broke in America, because of Newfoundland, a large Musical Province in Canada. Quebec followed a close second but had a bigger population.Little wonder , these two provinces sit side by side. Every home had a copy of the first two albums. You couldn't go anywhere and not hear these songs. The highest penatration in all of America, was here. While the rest of us were caught up in more commercial offerings , the smartest people were tuning into this. Now about the Performance.
The Crowd is fantastic, believe or not, this concert is just a duo, the sideman is from London, Ontario, he's worth a listen. Roger's voice is strong, and he delivers , being a self taught keyboardist, his phrasing is really neat.
This DVD is a Must see. Its worth double what you'll pay for it!
I really appreciate a quality DVD like this from Roger Hodgson. He is a very talented composer and musician. He just doesn't tour in the United States as much as would be appreciated.
When I heard Hodgson had a solo, live DVD recently released, I searched to see if he had a website (he does). The website is well done and one of his songs (Breakfast In America) popped up and I knew I wanted to get the DVD right away. I was not disappointed, for a mostly "one-man show" his performance brought back a lot of memories of having seen Supertramp in concert as a teen and being wowed by them then. Hodgson's performances are crisp and clean. The sound is excellent and he plays guitar and piano with a verve that is infectious! I was familiar with the majority of songs from the Supertramp years but also enjoyed the songs he played from his solo career. He still has his voice, and the camera work is well done. If you were/are a Supertramp fan, I think you will really like the DVD. Wish more songwriters of past would consider solo shows like this.
Being a Roger Hodgson fan, and wondering why he has not released more music since his departure from Supertramp, I was thrilled to watch this concert performance. Here lies the master behind Supertramp's success and it shows. Age has done nothing to diminish his performances and I can only hope I get to see him "live" myself someday! This dvd includes awesome renditions of Supertramp classics, such as "Give A Little Bit, School, Take The Long Way Home, Dreamer, and Sister Moonshine" while also touching on a few of his own solo hits ("Lovers In The Wind" and "Love Is A Thousand Times). What is really amazing about these performances is that, for the most part, it is Roger accompanied by one other performer (sorry, his name escapes me) and between the two of them, they bring all these songs to life! If you like Supertramp, you will not be disappointed. Roger, in the words of Dave Loggins, "Please Come To Boston!"
Roger always gives great performances. He played many of his fan's favorites. On the DVD he sings a new song, which is now called "Oh Brother". I'm sure it will be a big hit also.
On the down side, I do perfer Rodger with his full orchestra sound, rather than solo.
Backstage scenes show Rodger to be a very approachable person and down to earth. He truly never tires in performing his music and his creativity is amazing.
I love classic rock and "supertramp" music is definately classic. I wasn't disappointed at all with the DVD. He performs all his hits from Supertramp. I highly recommend this DVD to all classic rock lovers as well as Supertramp lovers.

If you like supertramp's music, which you probably do if your reading this, you will love this dvd.All the songs are great, all written by Roger,Rick and Roger always sang their own songs as you may know.
The sound and picture are fantastic, the concert itself is very intimate ,with just Roger and his instruments accompanied by another musician on sax, taking the parts John Helliwell played in the band.
The performance is really great,Roger doesn't mess around with the songs and they are true to the originals. I always loved the arrangements he put around his songs while he was in supertramp, obviously here they are not performed, but it doesn't matter the music is fantastic ,you'll find yourself playing this dvd over and over again as i have, its a great show and well worth the money.
