Rocks - Aerosmith (Cassette 1993)

Lordy, I must be dreamin', what else could this be?

Pros:
It REALLY doesn't suck; in fact, it's downright great.

Cons:
It will forever be overlooked, but that's okay.

Aerosmith s drug-addled past started with their 1973 self-titled debut album. When it didn t make a splash, they followed it up with the darker, scarier, rockier Get Your Wings, which strayed a bit from the bluesy shuffle of the first album. Their third album, Toys In The Attic, was their big success, their big hit, the album that made them. They followed it up with the even darker, but harder-rocking Rocks. Now, you see, it s become kind of clich to regard Toys In The Attic as Aerosmith s best word. Therefore, people started to call Rocks their best album. So, whether you think Toys In The...

Here's another Album that doesn't need explaining

Pros:
34:34 of Euphoria. Thuggish Blues-Rock.

Cons:
Hmmm...Well on a few songs The Snare Drum Sound isn't what it could be.

In case you've started checking out my work with this review, I Just wrote 2 Consecutive Epinions of Albums from Artists/Groups who hail from Massachusetts. The others were: Bobby Brown's "Don't Be Cruel" http://www.epinions.com/content_115856215684 and Boston's S/T Debut http://www.epinions.com/content_116687277700 Aerosmith's "Rocks" was released in 1976, the same year as Boston's Debut Album. Both these releases are undeniable Classics and essential to building the foundation of a Rock Library. As we all know Boston's first album has gone platinum 15 times over. But Aerosmith's "Rocks'...

Pros:
Every song kicks butt, and the band truly "Get The Lead Out"

Cons:
Too short, needed bonus tracks.

INTRODUCTION Hello, everybody. This is John Bishop typing, the DeadMilkboy of Epinions.com. Before I launch into the following review, I d like to mention that this is part of a series of reviews I m writing based on one of the greatest American rock n roll bands in history, AEROSMITH! Take it as it comes

Pros:
AEROSMITH's apex on tape, vinyl, CD, DVD...

Cons:
34 minutes - an extended whoooa but a brief record anyway

AEROSMITH's second masterpiece in a row is a wonder of pure, massive, carnal, urgent, unadultered solid funky Hard Rock. Literally - this is all about coming. For 34 minutes, that is. Joe Perry and Brad Whitford rock like their lives depended on it. Still, they display effortless versalitity, which confers Rocks a thrilling set of guitar tricks. Perry reserved some of this best soloing and when Whitford gets there too we have juggernauts like Rats In The Cellar's coda. Whitford unleashes his best-ever composition, the doomy Nobody's Fault, easily AEROSMITH finest moody number - what a...

 Their finest hour!

Pros:
Essential, influential and a few other 50 cent words I have forgotten.

Cons:
Combination.

How do you review an album that had such a major impact on your musical taste? It's kind of tough to not just shamelessly heap tons of praise on it, but I'm going to be as objective as possible. For me, Rocks came out at the perfect time in my life. I can still picture it. It was 1976, and I was in junior high. Now, if you think back to that time in your life, we were all trying to decide what was cool and what wasn't. That was very important for a 13 year old, who was trying hard to find himself, and come up with an identity. For better or worse, I turned out to be a rocker/partier (is that.
