I bought this for my son's 3rd Birthday. I was really happy with the condition that it arrived in; brand new, with plastic wrapping still on it. I also received it in a very timely manner. I loved that I was able to buy it right then, without actually having to bid on it. I loved the low price, and the only thing that I had a little trouble with, was realizing that I had to go to my personal e-mail at yahoo.com (not on my e-bay inbox or my-ebay site) to find the invoice. But once I figured that out, it went smoothly from there. I liked being able to send the seller a personal check, since I've had some trouble with the paypal process--not taking my debit/credit card info. when it should have!

  Great Disney Classic

I love this movie. I needed to add it to our collection of VHS we already had for the kids room. It's cheaper than buying a new DVD!! The kids seem to take care of the old VHS better than dvd's.

Cute retelling of the Robin Hood story!

This is another wonderful piece of Disney magic. This version is a bit different though than most versions of the story you've seen or read. All the characters are animals! Robin and Maid Marian are foxes, Little John is a bear, Friar Tuck is a badger, Allen a Dale is a rooster, the Sheriff of Nottingham is a wolf, Prince John is a (cowardly) lion, and his advisor Sir Hiss is a snake. This version includes all of Robin's most famous adventures like his duel with Little John at the river and his winning the archery contest sponsored by the Sheriff.

But the story has been changed somewhat by the addition of Sir Hiss. Actually, it's an improvement since Sir Hiss adds a lot of humor to this movie! Prince John never will listen to Sir Hiss's advice, so Robin and his friends always get the better of Prince John. Another change in the film is Prince John. Unlike his brave brother lion the good King Richard, Prince John is a sniveling cry baby who sucks his thumb when he's distressed and calls for mommy. The interactions between Sir Hiss and Prince John really add a lot to the movie and make it a lot funnier.

This movie really is a great Disney animated classic! The story is a fun twist on the familiar outlaw, the music and songs are catchy and cute, the voice talent is wonderful like with Phil Harris (of Baloo of "The Jungle Book" fame) as Little John, and the animation is top-notch like usual. This is definitely one cartoon you and your kids will enjoy watching over and over!

Hey, who's driving this flyin' umbrella?

Pros:
Action, humor, characters.

Cons:
Cheesy love scene, animation seems shoddy by today's standards.

As I move inexorably toward the point of no return, I have found myself thinking a lot about the good old days. The point of no return? Well, that's the age of 30 folks. As of the fifth of October, I'm not just 29 now, but 29 1/2. When I start watching an old film like Disney's take on Robin Hood, it surprises the heck out of me what an influence they have had, even if I haven't seen them in 10-15 years. Certain things I have said on a regular basis throughout my life turn out to come from these silly little cartoons. Like "That, I believe, does it." I mean sure, if someone were to ask me...

Robin Hood, Disney W/O for Emily

Pros:
Join in the fun...Save Nottingham...

Cons:
.....

In the "old days", we had, what was known as summer movies. These were movies shown during the day especially for children. You could purchase your tickets though the school or you could wait and each week present 6 coke bottle caps for free admission. That was what we always did. My dad lived on cokes at that time, I believe. My mom would take my sisters and I to the theater every week and drop us off. She would always sent along a brown lunch bag full of popcorn for us to take in. (Back then they let you do that) We would buy a drink at the concession and off we would go, to enter another..

  One of Disney's finest presentations
Review created: 02/03/03

Pros:
Great cast and music; light-hearted animation; more fun than a barrel of monkeys

Cons:
Hard to justify upgrade to DVD if you have a good VHS copy

This is one of those films that we just had to get on DVD. Why? Well, we've had the VHS tape of this think kicking around for a few years, and the quality of it has suffered quite a bit. Considering there are few extras offered on the DVD and the sound on this is in mono, I probably would have stuck with the old VHS tape if the tape hadn't been so worn. And, how did that old VHS tape get worn? Repeated viewings. Honestly, this is one of Walt Disney's finest production and a film that really holds up under repeated viewings. Sure, Robin Hood has become little more than a good fairy tale over...

Robin Hood (1973) --- Funny Disney Interpretation of the Infamous Tale
Review created: 08/13/07
by: three_ster-- a member of Epinions and Top Reviewer in Movies

Pros:
very interesting characters, funny in many ways, great animated story, true family film

Cons:
none

After telling the story of Robin Hood a dozen different ways, in 1973 Disney brought film-goers an animated version of the infamous fable. Rather than use the human-forms (and characters) that everyone was used to seeing, Disney made all of the characters of the film animals. The change was almost an obvious one for anyone that follows Disney, but also one that would add a lot of subtle humor to the mix, and keep the intended audience (kids) in love with the story for years. The opening credits of the story set the stage for anyone unfamiliar with the story, and explain the roles of each...

British Myth through the Eyes of the Animals
Review created: 06/02/00
by: bilbopooh -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
characterizations with animals

Cons:
Little John was practically the same character as Baloo

Robin Hood is one of the most familiar stories ever told. Based on British legend dating back to the time of King Richard the Lion-Hearted and the Crusades, it has been made into a movie over and over and over again. The Errol Flynn version will always be my favorite, but Disney's comes in a close second. With this story having been transferred to film so many times already, Disney needed a way to make its version notably different. The solution? Let the animals tell it. The wily Robin Hood is aptly played by a fox, as is his lady-love Maid Marian. Little John is a bear who, aside from the...
