I guess the product is ok - for a greatest hits kind of format.I do not like writting reviews so this may not be any help to others. This is a good cd to give to someone who does not know Rush's music as there are several cuts off of several albums. I do not like re-mastering and I do not like remastered products- but I guess that is technology for ya. I do not support "bootleggers" out to make a buck off of a Band's name and hard work.

Longtime Rush fan, this is a great selection of their greatest. I bought it on EBAY because of the price.

  Rush Early Days Review

Being a dedicated fan makes writing a bad review almost impossible. This collection though truly warrents an excellent review. This CD is a look back at the early days of Rush. This sometimes be a hard to find piece is a must for any Rush fan. It was intended to compliment the Cronicals Collection. If you know early Rush, you already know how great this collection is. From the masterful drumming of Niel, the blazing hands of Alex and the unmistakible voice of Geddy, this collection represents their early best. If you are a fan or know someone who is, buy this collection!

A look back at the beginning of Rush...and beyond.

Pros:
Great selection of early Rush classics. Remastered for better quality.

Cons:
None.

It's been 23 reviews since I touched upon a subject matter related to the Canadian Rock Power Trio known as Rush. Logic dictates that I was due. And so, before I go on a semi-hiatus from Epinions (i.e. vacation), I thought I should put together the first of two reviews detailing the double-album release known as Retrospectives. The first, which I'm reviewing here, is officially known as Retrospective I (1974-1980). But before I get into the details behind this Rush compilation offering, let's have a little background information on what led to these two releases back in 1997. Rush had just.

The Start of My Rush Collection.

Pros:
Freewill, The Trees, good, intelligent lyrics, great musicianship.

Cons:
By-Tor and the Snow Dog is weird. La Villa Strangiato is boring.

This is the only Rush album I own (so far). I'm broke right now, so this'll have to wait:). Anyway, like it says in my profile, I'm a libertarian. Rush is popular with us libertarians because of the lyrics of their songs, which deal with Objectivism, Ayn Rand novels, and science fiction. Hearing this, I decided to check them out. They have so many albums, I decided to get this one as a starter. I've heard some of these songs on the radio, so I was all ready familiar with some of them. On to the review. The Spirit of Radio, Closer to the Heart, and Fly by Night are some of the songs I heard on.

Most capitalistic excuse for a greatest hits compilation
Review created: 04/21/02

Pros:
Most all of early Rush hits

Cons:
Almost everything here is on Chronicles

'Best-of' compilations are one of the most controversial elements in pop music today. Some people believe that having a CD that reviews all of a band's most popular songs is a good thing so they can have all their favourites all on one or two discs. While others argue that it is just an excuse to buy what you already own. Whatever you may believe, the Rush Retrospective series is a prime example of record companies trying to make a quick buck. When most of us buy a greatest hits disc, we want the band's full career on only one or two discs. This need was already fulfilled on the 1991 album...
