A Rebirth, a New Beginning, Great Rock & Roll

Pros: Fresh, creative, emotional rock and roll the way it's supposed to be.
Cons: Absolutely None
Why would I review an album that has been out of "print" for several years? It's a good question and the answer is because it is an important album which has gone under-appreciated. This was the first CD by The Chris Perez Band following the passing of his wife, Selena. This is an album which harks back to the very soul of rock and roll; emotional expression. Chris did not try to cover up the fact that he had his guts punched out on March 31st, 1995 when he lost the woman he loved. He used that pain as inspiration to address not only his personal pain but taps into broader sentiment we all...

A True Ressurection

Pros: Great guitars, pleasing songs, lovely ballads
Cons: not really any
I love the debut album from the Chris Perez Band (formerly known as Cinco Souls). Chris knows his guitar, and it sounds awesome. He has even played with the great guitarist Carlos Santana once. Its great that he is finding success after Los Dinos. Almost every song is da bomb. "Resurrection" has some heavy guitar licks. "Noches en Vela" has great lyrics to it. "Best I Can", along with "Por Que Te Fuiste?" are beautiful songs. "Best I Can" was written by Perez (along with almost all but about four songs are, along with some help from his bandmates) as a tribute to his late wife, Selena. The...

Resurrection Rocks

Pros: Excellent Debut
Cons: none
Chris Perez is the widower of slain superstar Selena, and the founder and guitarist of the Chris Perez Band. The Corpus Christi, Texas based band offers up a mix of bilingual rock and pop on their debut album. Joining Perez in the band are vocalist John Garza, former Selena bandmate Joe Ojeda on keyboards, bass guitarist Adriel Ramirez and drummer Jorge Palacios. Perez is a gifted musician, and Resurrection breaks new ground with it's bilingual approach that reflects a daily reality, not only for these musicians, but for the vast majority of the more than 30 million Hispanic-Americans in the..

Resurrection

Pros: Great new sound, a great treat for those seeking something new.
Cons: Most of the songs are in Spanish so many may not relate
Few people know who Chris Perez is and those who do know him recognize him only as Selena's widower. In "Resurrection" Chris Perez demonstrates his own talents as a musician. The album is a combination of songs in English and Spanish whose influence ranges from the sounds of Santana to the rock and roll feel found in bands like Bon Jovi. The album gives the listener the right combination of ballads and fast moving songs that mesh the rock en Espanol world with the world of rock and roll. This is a must have album for anyone looking for a new sound of music.
