Clapton Is DOG?!!
Review created: 03/15/01

Pros:
It's Clapton. He still plays guitar as well as anybody else (but not here).
Cons:
Some bad cover selections and a few embarrassingly bad tracks.
Eric Clapton [1945-], guitar hero/god/demigod/lapsed deity/ is something of an enigma when it comes to his solo career. Since leaving the group safety of past bands' Yardbirds/Bluesbreakers/Cream/Blind Faith/Delaney

Pros:
A extra personal 'biographical' album about the childhood of the artist.
Cons:
An album that is not widely recognised as the classic that it is.
On the 17 of March 1991, the affectionately known, Slow Hand From Surrey , Mr Eric Clapton released an album entitled Reptile. No, not a collection of songs denoting our scaly skinned friends but a very personal and affectionate album dedicated to his uncle Adrian, who died a year before this album was produced. Clapton is renown for reflecting on his roller coaster life through his music. Using personal highs and lows throughout his life, he has brought us insight, wisdom and inspiration over his extensive career proving to us that his a human being with ups and downs just the same as the...

Pros:
Clapton, his guitar...what else do you need?
Cons:
Different style that may leave some to wonder what he is doing
Eric Clapton is really a chameleon. I also believe that makes him an amphibian, not a reptile. But that aside, this album is a very different mixture than what would be called the Clapton formula. On this disc, Eric tends to lean to the R

A Chameleon of an Album
Review created: 05/05/01
by: kidhendrix -- a member of Epinions
Pros:
A few extremely catchy songs, and some great covers. Clapton's vocals have never been better.
Cons:
Lack of guitar heroics and a few poor songs.
If Eric Clapton's 1998 effort "Pilgrim" was the attempt to "record the saddest album ever" that Clapton claimed it to be, then Clapton's newest effort "Reptile" must be his attempt to make the happiest album ever. With the exception of only a couple of songs, the album is chock full of upbeat numbers, especially the rocker "Superman Inside." Clapton does not attempt to break much new ground on "Reptile," but instead revisits old territory with a new passion and the wisdom that only years can bring. Clapton revisits everything from his childhood love of R

Groovin' with the Reptile himself

Pros:
Wonderful guitar playing (of course). Very good harmonizing.
Cons:
A few so-so songs
I ve been a big Eric Clapton fan since a good friend of mine introduced him to me via the Unplugged album. I ve since played that one to death practically. (Some day I d like to be able to play at least half as good as this guy!) For this album Eric is backed by a very talented crew, consisting of: Drums Steve Gadd Bass Pino Paladino
