Madonna - Ray of Light (CD Single)

Pros: Good Song from a Great CD
Cons: It was a little over-played when it came out.
This CD Single was released before the CD of the same name came out. This CD and this single were both very anticipated from Madonna since she had not anything new (excluding the Evita soundtrack which was not her own material for obvious reasons) since around 1995. So most people were expecting a lot from this single and from the CD that was coming out shortly after the CD Singles release. The song and the CD did not disappoint those that were waiting for its release. In fact the song started to take people in a new direction and the CD took people for a mystical journey that showed Madonna..

This Song Will Calm You in a Storm

Pros: Catchy, well-crafted single
Cons: Was released too late--as a result, it only reached #5 on the chart.
I first heard Madonna's song "Ray of Light" in late May 1998, when the singer sang it on Oprah Winfrey's show. At first I didn't like the song--it sounded chaotic and disjointed. However, I came to like the song a lot because of various trials I was experiencing in my life during the summer. Late May and early June 1998 was a stormy time in the Northeast--two tornadoes struck our area within two days of each other (May 31 and June 2), and they featured hail and some of the heaviest downpours of the decade. It was also a stormy time in my own life: in June I was taking a difficult summer...

This Is In Your Love It List???:Part One

Pros: highly original and very well written song that succeeds in mixing pop and electronica
Cons: the b-side is nothing too great
This will probably shock more than a few people who read my reviews, and especially those who know my disdain for all things pop. I admit it: I like a Madonna song. Hell, I like three Madonna songs. Besides Ray of Light, I also find myself in love with Beautiful Stranger and her cover of American Pie (oh bring on the comments for that!). I remember the first time I heard Ray of Light on the radio. I was flipping channels when I was overtaken with this fluffy light dance pop tune. Scowling at my radio, I immediately turned the dial inside my car back to the left, searching for something...

Madonna's Ray Of Light

Pros: Great Dance Song, Another Madonna Style
Cons: Techno might not be your thing, it's not mine.......
My sister bought the tape of this single when it originally came out in 1998. Before even listening to the music on it it, I remember thinking that the cover was kinda cool, the green background with the bright yellow-ish "ray of light" with the words "Madonna Ray Of Light". Back then I wasn't the full-fledged Madonna fanatic I am now, but I did think she was cool, and I couldn't help but be interested in all the different styles of music she's done. Without a doubt, this was another Madonna reincarnation. Musically, the song's very techno-ish, but still has a pop side to it, and is a great...
