It's actually a Small Wonder! Lives up to its name...

It's small. has just the right features, simple enough for the electronically challenged! Nice clear color screen swivels around so you can see yourself as you video yourself! Sound quality if ok. Controls on rear consist of simple push type buttons, easy! 2 aa batteries last a while, or put some lithium aa in it for a really long lasting power source. Add a 1 meg SD card (around $20.00 any where) and film several hours. Clear enough video pictures, and you can make still copies. The software instantly takes over when you plug it into a laptop of desktop pc, you can edit your video easily, stop a frame and save it as a photo, share it with anyone via email. Great for youtube! Shop around we paid $109.00 at Circuit City, ours is white, but I hear there is a black model, too. 1 year warranty, but seems reliable and well made.

Awesome camera! VERY simple, no extra features. If that's what you're looking for like I was, then this is the product you need. The other consideration would be a Flip Video, but this was cheap and had expansion for a flash card; win for me :-)

Camera was just as described - very fair price. Seller was a good communicator and kept me informed on shipment. We'll enjoy this convenient camera on our vacations. I read a number of reviews on this type of camera and compared it with the Flip which does not offer extra storage. Looking forward to using this soon.
Thanks for a great value.

  Great little video camcorder

This is a great little camcorder. Really, just point and shoot. You just look thru the viewfinder/screen and push the red button to start. The push it again to stop. That Easy. Plug in with the pop up USB plug (it's too short for the angle on my computer, and they include an extension that is just right.he software is included in the camera so it can be pugged in and viewed on any computer. They include cords to plug and play on your TV, too. The reviews I have seen talks like this is just ok, YouTube quality, so I was surprised when it comes out in a nice clear display, even on a regular TV (I don't have an HDTV or Hi-Res) it looks clear and very good. The mic is sensitive and picks up everything very well. Hmm, what do I not like. Not great battery life. You can record about 1/2 a hour on the internal memory. I got an inexpensive 2 gig flash card and can probably record a great deal more than I have already. The regular batteries last about the 1/2 of recording. The recommend Energizer e Titanium AA batteries. I have some but haven't used them yet. Oh, AA are easy to pick up, reasonable price. The software isn't great for editing. Probably somehting else out there better for editing that I will pick up. Great little camera. It's fun and easy.

Review created: 05/29/08

Great for emailing video. Small and very light. 1 hour w/LP mode. 30 min w/HQ mode. Runs on 2 AA batteries so no special charging needed. Will use for house hunting out of state. My wife can take videos of houses and email back to me.

Great little invention.

I loved the size of it, the ease of use and the fact that you don't need tapes or expensive batteries for it!!The only drawback is I wish it came in other colors other than white or black.

  Small, Simple, Convenient
Review created: 05/03/08
by:

The EZ201 is small, and easy to operate. Works fine for a quick & simple 'no-frills' MPG video, with no CD or video tapes! All you need is a convenient SD card and two AA batteries and its ready to use! No battery charger nor waiting for batteries to recharge. If your batteries die, simply replace them with a fresh pair of AA's.

One disadvantage is that it has a slow or delayed function response, meaning when you hit record, it takes a few seconds before it actually starts, which may be frustrating if you trying to record something 'on the fly.'

Its audio/video connection cables allow you to view your videos on any video-ready TV the moment you finished your recording, or use its built-in USB connection to upload it to your PC for viewing or editing.

Overall, the EZ201 works great for a quick video, especially for a quick web posting. Definitely NOT for ones looking for a 'professional' video.

  Nice Little Camcorder

The RCA Small Wonder is a nice pocket sized camcorder that fits easily into a pocket or bag. It is very easy to use. You can use it right out of the box. I like that I can just pop in two double A batteries without having to wait for recharging like you do with other gizmos. The sound and picture are good for such a small camera. It's great that you don't need tapes to film anything and you can expand the memory. It does have one problem YOUR FRIENDS WILL ALWAYS BE USING IT!

  Decent video... Sub-standard audio

I bought this on a whim to (maybe)post some youtube video's. It records decent video for youtube, podcasting etc., but the internal mic is weak. I can't get a decent sound with acoustic drums (kick drum is dreadful) and it's only OK with electric guitars. If you want family and candid video capability, recording spoken word conversations etc. It works great. Don't get me wrong, for the price it's hard to beat... Only the internal mic needs improvement.

  GREAT as a chase camera!
Review created: 03/08/08

I have been searching for a set up to record runs around scenic routes and also autocross sessions. The professional set ups are nice, somewhat permanent and expensive. Here's how I got it done for not too much money.

The RCA Small Wonder EZ201 is small enough (about the size of a larger cell phone) that it fits well in a cell phone holder. I got (from eBay) a dash-mounted cell phone holder that has adjustable angles (swivel and tilt). Use double sided foam tape to fix the included plastic disc to the dashboard, then mount the cell-phone holder using its suction cup. Next, use the cell phone holder to hold on to the camera. Turn on the camera, adjust the angles, and we're ready to go! It is easy to unmount the camera, just press a button, and the cell phone holder releases its grip.

The camera has very reasonable quality for this price range, much better than my other flash-based camcorders. The small wonder also has a memory slot for up to 2GB of SD storage (not SDHC!). This will record up to 5 hours of video in the lower quality setting, which is still perfectly fine for youtube purposes.

The camera uses 2 AA batteries, alkaline or rechargeable. This is both an advantage and disadvantage. The advantage is that it's easy to find such batteries. There is no need to bring a charger to a camping trip. The disadvantage is that the unit weighs more with AA batteries.

There is also no DC-in jack for external power. This can be important for recording scenic drives that can last more than an hour or two. I suppose it is possible to rig a fixture that is the same size as 2 AA batteries, connect to the battery contacts, and bring the leads out to an external 2.5V to 3V DC source. I may just do that next.

Oh, there is also a tripod mounting hole at the bottom. Because the camera is tall, there is a lot of torque at the mounting point if it were for autocross purposes. A cell phone holder grips the sides, which distributes any stress very evenly over a large area. The tripod mounting hole is useful for applications other than automobile, though. For example, if I want to record a video clip doing something, there is nothing wrong with using the tripod mounting hole.

All in all, I think this is a very good camcorder for the price.

This is my first experience w/ a digital video recorder although I've had mulitple other non-digital recorders. This ia a terrific this unit that gives me everything that I want. There are some minor short comings but, for the average Joe, its great. An inexpensive way to learn the ins & outs of digital recording.

  RCA EZ201 Digital Cam

I own several digital cameras and without a doubt this Small Wonder lives up to its name. Now, even my wife (or anyone else) can operate this camera because it is so EZ! Now, I can be in the pictures or movies! Many a time at XMAS parties I take many still pics BUT it always seems that I myself am not in any of the shots....bummer. Now with this EZ to operate camera I can just hand it off to anyone in the crowd to start taking the movies. It is so EZ to just plug the cam into your USB port and with its built-in program there should be no problems to save movies or just still pics to your PC or to email to friends and family.

Everyone that sees it wants one! If I had a pocket full of these cameras I could sell everyone of them on the spot! You sure can't beat the price even if you buy it retail! It's worth every penny!

This is a step above the EZ101. This one holds a 2GB slot card if you want and can record up to 6 hours. You may also flip out the viewer so you can record yourself. This worked great for a college project my daughter was working on. It is easy to use and understand. May watch it instantly on your TV screen with full screen and sound. May also print pictures and freeze a shot, download to your computer, burn it on a DVD. Highly recommend this little camera. Light and easy to carry with you. Jill
