GREAT as a chase camera!

I have been searching for a set up to record runs around scenic routes and also autocross sessions. The professional set ups are nice, somewhat permanent and expensive. Here's how I got it done for not too much money.
The RCA Small Wonder EZ201 is small enough (about the size of a larger cell phone) that it fits well in a cell phone holder. I got (from eBay) a dash-mounted cell phone holder that has adjustable angles (swivel and tilt). Use double sided foam tape to fix the included plastic disc to the dashboard, then mount the cell-phone holder using its suction cup. Next, use the cell phone holder to hold on to the camera. Turn on the camera, adjust the angles, and we're ready to go! It is easy to unmount the camera, just press a button, and the cell phone holder releases its grip.
The camera has very reasonable quality for this price range, much better than my other flash-based camcorders. The small wonder also has a memory slot for up to 2GB of SD storage (not SDHC!). This will record up to 5 hours of video in the lower quality setting, which is still perfectly fine for youtube purposes.
The camera uses 2 AA batteries, alkaline or rechargeable. This is both an advantage and disadvantage. The advantage is that it's easy to find such batteries. There is no need to bring a charger to a camping trip. The disadvantage is that the unit weighs more with AA batteries.
There is also no DC-in jack for external power. This can be important for recording scenic drives that can last more than an hour or two. I suppose it is possible to rig a fixture that is the same size as 2 AA batteries, connect to the battery contacts, and bring the leads out to an external 2.5V to 3V DC source. I may just do that next.
Oh, there is also a tripod mounting hole at the bottom. Because the camera is tall, there is a lot of torque at the mounting point if it were for autocross purposes. A cell phone holder grips the sides, which distributes any stress very evenly over a large area. The tripod mounting hole is useful for applications other than automobile, though. For example, if I want to record a video clip doing something, there is nothing wrong with using the tripod mounting hole.
All in all, I think this is a very good camcorder for the price.
