I can say I rather enjoy Adam Sandlers Movies... which is why I watched this movie to begin with, even though I heard nothing about it.
I have to say it's one of the worst movies ever along side with Open Water. I can't even explain why because this movie has no sense to it, and it is especially not a Normal of Adams. All I can say is thank god I only rented it. If you think Im being critical or too harsh, rent it or buy it REALLY cheap. Not my money, but...
I do apologise if I offend anyone who enjoyed it. It's just one opinion of billions.
For a Sadler movie Excellent. Good story line and one of the few movies that I own that I could watch almost every six months, the reason I recently purchased the movie, seems like everytime I watch the movie I get some new meaning and see things in the movie I did not see before. Not as many trivial views like in Pulp Fiction, but some insights one does not see on the first viewing. Great to purchase a movie of this quality at a nice price on Ebay, and remember, before purchasing any item on Ebay check the shipping rate, very important to save money
I bought this movie for my boyfriend and ended up keeping it myself. This movie was great and it teaches you morals and what SHOULD be important in life, you will have to watch it till the end because once you start watching it you will have to finish it.
Interesting and odd, difficult to watch but impossible to turn away from. I wasn't sure if I was watching a comedy, drama, documentary, or some left-field cinematic experiment, and it left me feeling vaguely unsettled...maybe because I'm used to seeing Adam Sandler as a goofy, lovable misfit instead of a psychotic walking pathology with fits of uncontrolled rage. That said, he did a wonderful job portraying such a difficult character and never once tried to play it for laughs or wink behind his hand at his audience. I'm not sure this movie really needed to be made (there never seemed to be any real point or plot, just one disturbing occurrance after another) but as a means of proving once and for all that Sandler can be a serious actor and not just a fluffy star, it makes the grade.
Finally!! Adam Sandler does a movie that means something! Punch Drunk Love proves that Adam Sandler can act, who knew? The acting will hook you in. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Emily Watson join forces again (Red Dragon) to bring us one of the strangest love stories of our time. Adam Sndler plays a socially akward person with fits of rage due to having 7 sisters, then he meets Emily Watson and falls in love. While all of this is going on Sandler has to battle a bunch of crazed lunatics from a Phone Sex line that Sandler gets ripped off by. I will disclose no more details but I will say that the story is great and the acting is super! This movie is funny on top of being a serious drama. The real treat is the cinematography. This movie is a breath of fresh air to Adam Sandler and to movies in general. I highly reccomend this film to anyone.
Let's start out by saying this. Punch Drunk Love is not your typical Adam Sandler happy gillmore movie. It's very artistic and abstract at times. I've watched it with a lot of adam sandler fans who hate it, but for me this is one of my favorite movies.
But if you love the artistic feel in movies or dark comedies or anything like that, you'll love this movie.
being a fan of dark and obscure comedies i have to say this one is one of the worse I've seen. I like some of Adams movies, 50 first dates, the wedding singer and his part in mixed nuts. But this one is bad. Watch it for the sheer badness of it. I don't think liquor or a big fatty will help this movie. Sorry.
Adam Sandler is such an awesome actor and all of his movies are great but this one in particular I really love! It's so funny and so original! He does a great job and plays his true funny/angry self!
I saw this movie on TV and you know you've never seen a movie if it's on TV ( and also I guess I'm a sucker for Romantic Comedies), so I just wanted to have it for my collection of great movies. The most surprising thing I found was that it came in this cool DVD box, so there should always be a picture to show you if it's the DVD alone or cool box lol. Some people would find this movie a little too thought-provoking but I'd say it has the quality comparable to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
I loved this movie! Adam Sandler plays Barry Egan, a lonely, hapless salesman in a blue Technicolor suit. He's spent his life being crushed under the boot heels of bullies, his busy-body sisters (who torture him in ways that only siblings can)and life in general. For all of his kindness and his ability to offer love (and receive it) Barry remains lost. Until, he meets *her* and whether he likes it or not, things are going to change for Barry Egan...
The best way to describe this movie is to say that it's almost like a fairy-tale. It shouldn't be taken seriously at all. It's just a kooky love story that speaks to that lonely underdog in all of us.
I can't beleive this movie got good rateings. It sucked and I'm going to resell it. I bought it because most of Adam's Sandler movies are good this one sucked.
