Aerosmith Pump- not their best but still good!
Review created: 02/19/08

I bought this CD because I love Aerosmith and wanted some of the songs on it.
After I got it I was not terribly impressed. The songs I like are there, but the rest of the CD is not that great. I think they could have done much better for a compliation of great hits.
"What does it take to let you go" "Janey's got a gun" and "love in an elevator" are all great songs on this album.
I am also not terribly impressed with the remaster job. I think I Liked the old sound better.
Aerosmith is great. This is NOT a bad album. Just make sure you like all the songs, or be prepared to listen to just a few.

CD of the CD that made you understand that Aerosmith's come back was not a fluke! This was a brilliant CD. The powerful "Jamie's Got a Gun" showed that Aerosmith had arrived! They played out this diffucult subject matter with class and brilliance. They managed to do this will holding onto their classic tongue in cheek style as well. This CD has a great variety of musical style and lyrical topic. Tylers classic turning of phrases comes to life in "Love in an Elevator." This is a CD that shows Aerosmith's versatility.

Pumping Your Eardrums with Great Rock and Roll
Review created: 09/06/04

Pros:
The strong selection of memorable songs

Cons:
None, really.

Aerosmith is one of rock and roll s longest- lived bands, with a career that spans more than thirty years. The band started out in the 1970 s, making a name for itself with such classic tunes as Walk This Way , Dream On and others. Aerosmith hit the skids in the early 1980 s, due in part to the band s excesses in (what else?) sex, drugs, and rock and roll. But as the decade wore on, Aerosmith s music got better and better, culminating with the release of Pump in 1989. Let s take a look at what Pump has to offer to the lover of fine rock and roll: Band Members and Personnel: Steven Tyler- Lead.

Pros:
Ridiculously good rock and roll.

Cons:
Short, but consistently good throughout its skimpy runtime, so it's not even a real complaint.

In these dark days of post-Just Push Play Aerosmith backlash-ism, of "they should get back on drugs"-ology and of "Honkin' on Bobo [the 'Smith's new one; a pleasing collection of blues covers] is the best post-rehab thing Aerosmith have ever done and probably will do until they all die"-centricism, we, as an Aerosmith-loving society (apart from the 80% of music critics and fans who _hate_ them), need to take a deep breath, count to ten, and meditate on the perfunctory sucker-punch of a rock album that 1989's Pump was-- and still is. Simultaneously loved and loathed for their resignation to...

Aerosmith Pumps It Up (Aerosmith W/O)
Review created: 03/23/03

Pros:
great songwriting, solid playing, a great all around album

Cons:
none

There are very few rock and roll bands on this earth that can claim to have been through as much as Aerosmith. With the possible exception of Motley Crue, no band did the drugs, alcohol and girls the way the bad boys of Boston did. Hell, when the two most famous members of your group, singer Steven Tyler and lead guitarist Joe Perry, are nicknamed "The Toxic Twins," I guess that's really all you need to know. After all their tribulations and what was, for all intents and purposes, a breakup of the lineup that made Aerosmith so great in the 70s, the band got back together in their most famous..

Sweeter than Honey From a Honeybee (Aerosmith W/O)

Pros:
Do ya likes the rock 'n roll? This album's got plenty.

Cons:
A couple of filler tunes, a little raunchy at times

I have a confession to make: I know jack diddly about Aerosmith. I am reviewing this CD because I'm a big Aerocat fan, she's hosting this writeoff thingy, and Pump is the one and only Aerosmith album I own. I can even concede that owning Pump isn't really anything special--everyone owns (or at least owned) this album. It's like an American institution. The late 80's were a great time for Aerosmith--the older fans loved this album because DUDE, the boys could still rock. Preteen boys (such as myself) loved this album because, well, those mannequins in the "Love In an Elevator" video were HOT...

Pros:
Rocks
Cons:
That you still don t have it, maybe?
Does it get any better than this? Well, you tell me. 3 bad*ss rockers, a rocker with a reference to Nat King Cole, one of the best songs about (against, that is) children abuse from Aerosmith! three more flat-out rockers, one of the band s best ballads nowhere as cheesy as Crazy or Cryin and two folkish acoustic numbers. You might even forgive them Voodoo medicine man. This is a band in its prime. Y all know the Aero story. What you probably don t know is my story of getting to know, and, ultimately, love Aerosmith. I started with Get a Grip in the remote 2000 and loved the ballads (Cryin ,..
