Pride and Prejudice (2006, DVD)

I loved the book and loved the movie just as much! Pride and Prejudice is a classic and I feel the integrity was kept in its reproduction. The set and costume design are amazing and appropriate for the time period, not to mention beautiful. Keira Knightly plays a stunning Lizzie, acts gracefully and true to the character. The movie stirs up hope and desire, just as the book does page by page. The end of the movie leaves you wishing for more of the old-fashioned scenery and situations... wishing for love. This is the perfect movie for the ladies... cuddle up in a warm blanket and watch this on a rainy day!

I like this movie very much. The love story is timeless. I could not find it in any local stores, and the price was very fair.

Probably my favorite romance movie of all time.Even though this movie version is not completely like the book, it keeps the same feeling.I think Jane Austen would have approved of this movie version. This movie is clean with no cursing,nudity,or sexual situations.

The movie is well done and very well acted, particularly by Donald Sutherland. It also captures well, I think, the flavor of early 19th century country life in England. However it doesn't really hold a candle to the 6 part PBS treatment of the same novel.

This is a top-notch, excellent and completely re-watchable movie. It has gone to the top of my "Top-Ten" list! With all that said, I do have to admit seeing "Becoming Jane" enhanced viewing this movie, realizing how autobiographical it was. I have seen several versions, but there has never been the passion between the two leads as in this one. When Lizzie blisters Mr. Darcy after his first proposal, they are both in such pain, and still you can see them gravitating towards one another despite what their "prejudices" are telling them. Spectacular scenery, spectacular casting makes this a must see - even if you think this era was stuffy and boring! Donald Sutherland is the best Mr. Bennett ever also!

Of all the versions of Pride and Prejudice there are, I love this one best. Mathew Macfadyen portrays Mr. Darcy as prideful and a tad arrogant--in keeping with Jane Austen's book-- but he also injects the qualities of shyness and vulnerability into the character that I find endearing. After all, how could Lizzie fall in love with him if he were a total ass? Donald Sutherland's portrayal of Mr. Bennett is wonderful. He is a bit scruffy but a truly loving father with a sense of humor. All of the characters I thought were well cast...right down to the giggling nonsensical younger sisters. The backdrop and scenery are enchanting as is the soundtrack.

romantic and sexy. my new favorite movie. Mr. Darcy's awkwardness is endearing and the way he looks at her is every woman's dream.

I love Jane Austen's books, and especially love the Director's interpretation. Much of the dialog is consistent with the book and I appreciate where the screen writer took creative and dramatic license. Kiera Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen were exceptional in the role.

It is a beautiful version of the Jane Austin classic. The chemistry between Kiera Knightly as Lizzie and Mr. Darcy is so engaging. The ending is joyful and satisfying! For me it is my favorite version.

This movie is the best I loved it...If you like chick flicks and love romance movies this is it. I saw this movie for the first time and fell in love with it.

This movie was a disappointment if you have ever seen other versions. Even the earlier B & W with Greer Garson and Laurence Oliver was better. The really best one and my personal favorite is the A & E version with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. It was just so much more believable with the beautiful costumes and scenery. Colin and Jennifer were so well matched in this version but all of the cast was superb. This later version with Knightley is a really pitiful rendition. They all look like poor farmers rather than people of upper society. If you want to compare all you should see this one but for sure don't pay much for it. It is still in the stores at a ridiculously high price. I am so thankful I bought it used from ebay for the loss of the extra money would have upset me greatly. I love Jane Austen and have read most of her books and have seen several of the movies so far. If you really want a great Pride & Prejudice look for the A & E mini series 10th Anniversary edition with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. You won't be sorry with that one.

I received this movie in a timely manner however I can't comment on it as I bought it for someone else.

I used to love Ebay as a great source for buying and selling. Now, however, with the upcoming "Feedback Extortion Policy" I've decided that I can longer sell - or buy - here. Unlike Amazon, a unscrupulous buyer can bid, win, never pay and leave honest sellers like myself a big fat negative, with no repercussions whatsoever. Just because they feel like it! And Ebay will use that negative to restrict my listings, prioritize my listing in the search results, charge me higher final value fees. Can you believe it?

And then there's those DSR's (Detailed Seller Ratings). Even though those are also "unverified opinions" Ebay will use those against me too! In one of my last transactions I had the buyer ding my shipping and handling star when I had a handling charge of 34 cents; yes, that was the total amount over exact shipping. She also dinged my communication star even though I had emailed her the invoice the day of the auction, emailed her again when I received payment, and again when her item shipped. So, apparently those "unverified opinions" are quite useful to Ebay, even though very damaging to honest sellers.

So you see, I really can't sell or buy here any longer. No more negatives for deadbeat buyers, no more Mutual Feedback Withdrawal - even if the buyer made a mistake and admits they left a negative for the wrong person. Perhaps when the stock tanks and profits go down, Ebay will rethink its misguided ways and reverse the Feedback Extortion Policy, but I'm not holding my breath right now. It's time to check out Etsy, Ioffer and Bidville. Adieu, Ebay.

Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet was stellar! I also loved Brenda Blethyn as the frivolous Mrs. Bennet and Donald Sutherland was the perfect Mr. Bennet. Mr. Darcy and the rest of the characters came to life through the supporting cast. Jane Austen's novel is a timeless story about love, romance and misunderstanding laced with wit and humor. It has long been one of my favorite novels and I really loved this film adaptation.

I love this movie. I can watch it over and over again. The costumes and scenery are great. But this movie you won't be sorry.

I love this movie!!! This movie is an excellent Jane Austin movie. They followed the book. A classic love story.

This is a captavating story told in a fashion that would make the great Jane Autin proud. A timeless love story where social ranks, peoples opinion , and lies to your heart are known. Fantastic! I would recommend this to eveyone.

I loved this product. It was packaged nicely. I liked it b/c it was unused and in the original packaging. I bought it b/c the price was fair for an older movie.

This movie is a must, the original with Sir Laurence,this one ,the longer version, and the Indian version Bride and Prejudice get them all !!!!!!

Beautifully filmed but not Austen's Pride and Prejudice. More like the version a Bronte sister might have written.

This is a christmas gift for my sister. I cannot give an opoinion on this movie, because I have not seen it.

It was a really good movie. It was full bodied in every way. The rythum was excellent not too much of anything and a little of everything here and there.
There was a lot to learn and was enjoyiable to watch.

It was a great movie but the book was alot better.. alot of things were very wrong on the movie.. totally opposite

I watched the movie for the first time in August and fell in love with it, I just had to have. I could not find it at walmart so I bought it off ebay.

It's a great movie, the actors are great. Mattew McFadyen is awesome, I had never heard of him, now I am a huge fan. He is a british actor, who is better than half of hollywood.

Everybody should watch this movie.
