Pride and Prejudice (Mini-Series) (2001, DVD)

I never get TIRED of watching this DVD *sighing with a head shake and a smile* its one of most romantic, wonderful, exciting and well directed movie I have ever seen. The first time i saw this on A&E i knew i had to get it on DVD, i have read the Jane Austen book and for me personally its more special to me seeing it come to life on tv than my first time reading it some years ago.

The chemistry between the cast is excellent Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle did a wonderful job in bringing this novel to movie to life its A MASTERPIECE, get this movie if you love romantic movies add this to your collection its 4 1/2 hours long but worth every minute of the movie....

This is my favorite of all of Jane Austen's books. I've watched other screen adaptaions and feel this one stays most true to the original story. Jennifer Ehle, Colin Firth and the rest of the cast just seem to resemble the mental pictures of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy I remember having as I originally read the novel so long ago. To me, this version is the most ejoyable of all.

Excellent portrayal of Jane Austen's characters from the novel Pride and Prejudice. I felt the acting by Colin Firth and the rest of the cast was very well done and if you like Jane Austen, this, in my opinion is the best!

I love this mini-series! I think this is the best version of Jane Austen's story by far. The others pale in comparison. The actors are all so talented. It draws you in and holds your attention throughout. Plus, I couldn't believe the price. WOW!

This was a mini series that I saw a few years ago but missed some of the episodes and decided to purchase it through e-bay. This is my favorite version of Pride and Prejudice. I really like the actors that are in this series.

I feel this series is WAY better then any other movie ever released for Pride and Prejudice. Well worth the purchase. Its more detailed since its longer and has you more pulled into what is going on in the movie.

I bought the old Pride and Prejudice. I like it because it goes more into depth than the new Pride and Prejudice.

I saw it on PBS and wanted my own copy. It is excellent,so very well made,with so much attention to detail, and the actors and actresses are so very believeable!There was nothing I disliked about it.
I am very pleased with my purchase. It arrived in a timely fashion and was in excellent condition.

I saw the PBS broadcast of Persuasion, (Sally Hawkins), and Mansfield Park, (Billie Piper, Blake Ritson), and loved them so when I missed the Pride and Prejudice showing, I of course had to get it on DVD, and QUICK. I enjoy the innocent characters,(with a passionate under current), and incredible wit with the use of language and the properness of it all. It is sooo refreshing! I have watched all 3 repeatedly.

I really love this movie. This movie gives women a feel for the modesty and decency of our sex. It helps us to be more discreet in our dealings and gives modern women an opportunity to learn to be kind, gentle women. Something that is lost with our culture of careless words and open indecency. I would highly recommend this movie, even to watch it with our daughters so that we can learn where indecency and impropriety lead, i. e. Lydia and Mr. Wickam. It also shows what a woman who waits for the right man, can enjoy!

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite love story written by one of my favorite authors. There have been, I think, 4 P & P movies (including the most recent with Kira Knightly) made, but this version is by far my favorite and truest to the book.

First of all it is from Jane Austen !! I love all of her stuff and this is her best work made into a Mini Series ! The people in the series play the part to a PERFECT "T" !! The sceenery is beautiful !! I Love this one and have watched it over and over ! A MUST have in your collection for the romantic at heart ! Trust me you WILL love it ! The two leading people are both Dreamy !!

Some of the family members annoying. The pride and prejudice exhibited is disgusting. The acting is great. I love watching this in one sitting with a bunch of friends. The story is, of course, a classic!

The DVDs were bought to replace our worn VHS tapes of the same edition. My wife watches it all several times a year and we were concerned about the life span of the tapes, so we bought the DVDs which with reasonable care will last about forever. Very pleased to have found a new set in the box.

This is, by far, the best adaptation of P&P! And,... it's fun! It truly keeps to Jane Austen's spirit of the story and every character is played with authenticism. Costumes, sets, and manners are true to the period. I was surprised at how amusing the story was! Even my husband laughed!

Colin Firth steals the show as Mr. Darcy. What an actor! He simply smoulders! His portrayal is so true that one can no longer picture Darcy in any other form, once seen here. Darcy is a complex man, and not all as confident as one assumes at first. Firth brings out both Darcy's strengths and his shortcomings in a very appealing performance. Thank you very much, Mr. Firth!

Best scenes are Elizabeth's refusal of Darcy's first proposal and her confrontation with Lady Catherine. His second proposal and their reconciliation is also done perfectly. And, yes,... Mr. Darcy emerging from the lake.... need I say more? Again, thank you Mr. Firth!

This is the best by far!

I love this movie. I bought it without ever seeing it. It has much more detail than the new version. It gives more character history and is much closer to the book. The price was much better than in local stores.

I love the movie. I watch it over and over. Good love story. I have the later one and I like that also. This movie follows the book better.

I've become one of the millions of Jane Austen fans and had seen portions of this particular adaptation of her book on PBS, but wanted to see it all. I'm pleased with it and plan to watch it over and over, which, after all, is why we buy movies rather than just renting them.

bought this for my mother. her copy on vhs messed up over the last couple years, found this easy, and not overpriced.

This was by far beyond what I expected. I received much more than I ever thought. The clarity and quality of this item is inexpressible.

The acting, script, and direction were all superb. To be quite honest, I only bought it to keep my wife and daughter happy. Then I started watching it as well, and I really began to enjoy it. I used to avoid Jane Austen like the plague, but this kind of production might keep me coming back for more.

An Austin triumph, which any one who enjoys theater would love. We had seen movie and wanted to add this Masterpiece theater /BBC production to our library.
