I had to read this book for a class I am taking. It is a great book for learning who to treat your self by using herbs. I think if somone would have told me about this book I woud have bought it any way
It is very extensive, covering a plethora of disorders. It offers information on vitamins, minerals, herbs, precautions, etc. I refer to it weekly for myself and/or others. It is a must for anyone who is interested in natural healing.
This book gives a lot of detailed information. It has helped me out alot, I have taken some of the vitamins recommended. I bought this book because I suffer from Fibromyalgia and TMJ -Tempro Mandibular Joint Disorder.
i saw the newest edition from a coworker, i decided to purchase this item because it was a few years older, as expected it was geat and very similar to the new edition
A friend of mine was reading this book. I glanced through it and I went on line and ordered it right away. If you have ANY medical questions, the answers are right there. It covers all subjects from your head to the bottom of your feet. It even gives you help with weight loss and gain issues, tooth aches, eye problems, etc. You name it, it's covered in this book. I have a lot of books, but I refer to this one most often.
I already had this book but wanted to get it for a friend who needed information regarding a particular disease. It is a very good resource and not only tells you about the problem, but the solution or remedies and my friend was grateful to get it. Thank you for the good service too.
Everyone should own a copy of this book. It's full of important nutritional information. You can gain control of your health using the information in this book. It's something that every doctor should prescribe to their patients.
I have not received this item, that I purchased in good faith. The seller does not respond.....we have filed a claim with e-bay and HOPE to hear back from someone at some point. I have made other purchases and been delighted! As for this seller, I wouldn't purchase anything again!!
This book is great. My mother recently had surgery and like most people who know not too much about medicine, she's learned alot from it. It has ways to treat everyday things. I highly recommend!!
Excellent book with full descriptions of treatments, supplements and a variety of different treatments to try. Highly recommend this book for those who seek alternative healing options.

The Self-Helper's Approach to Better Health

Pros: Easy to read, practical information, great book for the beginner.
Cons: Not as comprehensive as it could be.
Socrates once said that "there is only one good - knowledge, and one evil - ignorance." True words to live by even now. There is power in knowing what one can do to live a healthier life and failure to do is at one's own peril. So many people don't even have the slightest idea of what to do when they are ill. Most just go to the doctor, seeking some magic pill that will make the "problem" go away. What we fail to recognize is that we have the power and the control to make ourselves well. The body and mind, along with nature, offers the body a wealth of good health. The Prescription for...

Pros: Very extensive listings, great information
Cons: none
I am writing to say that the Third edition was released in 1999 (the info epinions has is for the 1997 version). It is no longer just an A-Z guide to supplements. This edition's Title is Prescription for Nutritional Healing:A Practical A-to-Z Guide to Drug-Free Remedies Using Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs

Resource for natural health remedies

Pros: Lots of information about health.
Cons: Many far-out remedies
I happened to mention to an acquaintance that I was concerned about a health issue and she recommended that I read this book. I had been given a Border s gift card, so I went online and found it on the Border s/Amazon site for $16.29. Its list cost is $23.95. I was able to purchase this book with no shipping cost since all the books I purchased were over the $25-and-no-shipping added incentive. There is a huge amount of information in this book. It is not the kind of book that you d read for pleasure on a rainy afternoon. Part 1 is an excellent overview of nutrition, including basic nutrients.

The Hippie Hypochondriac's Home Journal
Review created: 10/18/99
by: kmennie -- a member of Epinions
Pros: Thorough list of ailments new and old, suggestions for the healthy and the well, well-thought-out and neatly organized; simple to use
Cons: Some advice lacks scientific support, "prescriptions" could use more details -- too simple to use
When I hit upon this book, it was a little-known work collecting dust on a health food store shelf in the hippie paradise of Vancouver Island. Now in its second edition, it's a six hundred page work so popular it's sold in mainstream American pharmacies. I'm not entirely sure why it's gone mainstream, since it's anything but. The advice is thoughtful, extensive and if not scientific at least researched in...some form, but it's more alternative than the average "General Nutrition Center" store. There are hundreds of disorders (Abscesses to Xerophthalmia) listed, and wheatgrass juice is a more..

Back to Basics

Pros: well-organized, covers a wide range of illnesses and disorders
Cons: includes treatments that have not been widely studied, treatments can be expensive
As alternative health therapies have come and gone, one of the ones that I have the most faith in is nutritional healing. So naturally, I was drawn to this book like a bee to honey. I tote it around to anyplace I'll be for more than a few days, and very often refer friends to it as a source health advice. My copy is battered and dog-eared, but nonetheless maintains an honored place on my bookshelf. Why, you might ask, is this book so important to you? For a number of reasons. Primarily, I believe that western medicine has a tendency to treat symptoms rather than causes. We pop pills like...
