Singing Class Hero

Pros:
An album filled with emotion unlike any other from Lennon
Cons:
Some people will still misunderstand his messages
Near the end of their run as a band, the Beatles talked about doing a "back to basics" album. The result was "Let It Be," the final album release of new Beatles material. The idea continued for John Lennon and Paul McCartney, even after the band went their separate ways. McCartney released "McCartney," an album of simple, generally uplifting songs on which he played every instrument and sang all of the vocals. Lennon, on the other hand, took the basic approach down a dark path with his 1970 release, "John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band." With a small band of musicians, including Billy Preston, Klaus.

Plastic Ono Band--John Lennon's Most Profound Work
Review created: 01/02/02

Pros:
Emotionally revealing, one of the greatest albums of our time
Cons:
None
John Lennon's first solo album after the breakup of The Beatles, Plastic Ono Band, is, in the humble opinion of this writer, one of the most profound musical efforts of our time. As a Beatle, Lennon was always notorious for wearing his heart on his sleeve in his songwriting--his jealousy, insecurity and paranoia formed the basis of much of his music with The Beatles. Plastic Ono Band takes the catharsis a step further--things that Lennon never wrote about as a Beatle surface for the first time on this album. Honest, hard-hitting themes of abandonment and isolation are present here, but in the.

John Lennon - December 1970

Pros:
Lennon's first proper solo album is filled with mostly good songs.
Cons:
Some of the songs are not so good.
John Lennon had released two singles in the late 60s and one in the 1970s. He also released his three avant-garde albums in 1969 as well. I regard the Plastic Ono Band album as John Lennon's first proper solo album, although it was released at the end of 1970. Lennon released eight studio albums in his solo career, six in the seventies and two in the eighties. In my opinion, John Lennon's strongest tracks come from 1980's Double Fantasy album. For the seventies, I would have to say that this album, Plastic Ono Band is his best from the Me decade. For the alternative, you have his Imagine...

The defining album of his entire career.

Pros:
This album is John Lennon's best post-Beatles outlet.
Cons:
None this album is one of the rare records that is perfect.
With the sound of bells echoing a mock funeral of his parents, John Lennon's solo career began. Fueled by creative frustration, and an agenda all his own, John Lennon embarked on what turned out to be one of the greatest solo careers of all time. Was it Yoko who made John leave the Beatles? Was it Paul? Or was it 1969s Toronto's Pop Festival? It was was cultivation of all of these things that helped John realize that he had the potential to create a music that was all his own. The days of Lennon/Mc'Cartney were officially over. When one-first heres the yell of ,"MOTTTTTTHER YOU HAD ME, BUT I..

John Lennon Explores Isolation
Review created: 01/21/00
by: e_burrell -- a member of Epinions
Pros:
Introspective lyrics, A good solo effort
Cons:
All of the complaining is sometimes tiresome.
In 1970 John Lennon released his first true solo album. The result was an eleven-track album that holds the listener from beginning to end. The listener basically takes a journey into the cerebrum of one of the greatest lyricists to ever live. We are taken through a catharsis of Lennon's mind. The songs are mostly brilliant with an exception or two, and "Plastic Ono Band" is for the most part a terrific solo effort. Phil Spector (who is famous for his echo saturated sound, and produced most of Motown's biggest hits) produced this album along with John Lennon and Yoko Ono. They have managed to.
